Let Go...Let God - Encouragement Card

All week this phrase has found it's way to me whether through me saying it to a friend or a friend saying it back to me in our times of need. And I know that the Lord has something in store for me and my family

In the meantime, I sat down and designed this card so as to encourage and remind myself to Let Go...Let God.

The hand is from Making the Grade and cut at 2 1/2",

the bird is from Indie Art and cut at 2",

the flourish is from Tinkerbell and Friends and cut at 1" and size to what I needed.

Sesame Street Birthday Pop-up

Today is my niece's first birthday and I wanted to:

use the Sesame Street cartridge,

make a pop-up, and

try the pop-up layering technique

With that said this is the card that I created. Not too terribly bad for a first attempt, but it was time consuming. Will I try it again? Of course! I loved the way that it turned out - even if it isn't "perfect".

My only complaint - every picture I took washed out the colors.........I really need to invest in a better camera.

My finished card measures 6 1/2" x 5". The characters were each cut at 2 1/2", the cake and the balloons were cut at 1". The banner was computer generated but is also at 1" tall.

If you would like a copy of the tutorial please see the tutorials tab.

UPDATE: I am so excited because this card actually made the August 3rd edition of the Cricut Chirp newsletter. This is the 2nd time that I have had this honor and man is it exciting to see that my work was chosen with all the hundreds of projects that were posted on the boards that week. http://www.cricut.com/newsletters/volume.aspx?ID=195

Beautiful

Inspired by a picture I saw in Just Cards magazine this layout was a while in the making. I was drawn into the whole flower in the center as a focal point kind of thing. I had one flower that I knew I wanted to use because of its size and color. From there I tried several different "characters" and finally decided on this cute pup from the Paper Pups cartridge.

The scallop in the center of the flower is a chipboard piece.

The following cuts were used for this card:

Paper Pups: Pup - 3 " and the butterflies at 1"

Tags, Bags, Boxes & More: Tag at 1 1/4"

Home Decor - Beautiful at 1"

My background was embossed using the swirls folder. Because of the size I had to emboss from each end of the paper.

The inside sentiment says, "Beauty...is the shadow of God on the universe." - Gabriela Mistral, Desolacion

Sympathy & Butterflies

I needed a sympathy card for a co-worker this week and as I tried to decide what I was going to do for the layout I came across Okie's card challenge on the Cricut boards. This week she provided three different sketches and this card was inspired from her third sketch. I've never participated in one of the challenges but this one was fun and came just when I needed that nudge.

For this card I used Tags, Bags Boxes and More, Home Decor, and Accent Essentials.

Luigi Any Occasion Card

Every so often I have this habit of searching through the IMDB website in hopes of finding a good movie quote to use in a project. The other night I came across a quote from the movie Cars that goes like this.....

"I must scream it to the world, my excitement from the top of someplace very high."

That quote was from Luigi and from that quote this card was born. Very simple card - with the exception of making sure the font curved and printed just right around the circular piece.

Happy Birthday Cupcake

I have been trying to decide how I wanted to use the cupcake cut from the Home Decor cart and finally decided that the best first cut would be for a birthday card.

The colors in the picture do not do the card justice - especially for the cupcake which is sprinkled with a mixture of purple and sandstone glitter.

Foxy "Hi" card

So I saw this card in a recent issues of Just Cards that had this wonderful idea for creating a flower and I was immediately drawn to it. So last night I kept racking my brain trying to figure out what "character" I could use that I thought looked good with my flower. I tried a flamingo, a couple of the tinkerbell characters and another one that I can't remember but I didn't like any of them. I was so close to giving in to my frustration and scrapping the whole idea when I saw the fox on Zooballoo and decided to give it a try. And I am so glad that I did.

For this card I used:

Zooballoo for the fox

Paper Doll Dress Up for the hat

Mickey and Friends for the flower

Slam Dunk Elmo - Birthday Card

So I'm on an Elmo roll. I think that I like the way this one turned out more than the baseball card. Although my daughter likes the baseball one better. What do you think?

The inside sentiment for this one says, "Happy Birthday - hope it's a slam dunk"

Baseball Elmo Birthday Card

This card was created for a friend of mine whose grandson is turning one next week. Well the mom is a Red Sox fan and I was trying to figure out a way to incorporate that into the card, but only got so far as a baseball theme.

For this card I cut the background to measure my card blank at 5 x 6.5 inches

Elmo was cut at 4"

The baseball glove at 1.25"

and the baseball at 1"

The inside sentiment was a poem written by my friend, but for future cards will say something like "Happy Birthday Slugger"

Song of Your Heart - Friendship Card

Last night I sat down at my desk and just stared at the pics on a couple of my cartridges and after a while I had a couple of ideas pop into my head. This card is one of them.

I kept looking at the birds on the Home Decor cartridge as this is one of a couple that I purchased a while back and have yet to use. So the more I kept looking and trying to figure out what to do my gaze kept wandering back to this particular bird. And then I remembered a quote that I had saved so I opened my quote file, found it and viola the rest is now card history.

My Hero - My Dad Layout

This is a very simple layout I created in honor of my dad. There is no Cricut for this just paper, pictures, and stickers but still I wanted to share.

I have been in the midst of swapping rooms in the house again now that our oldest son is going off to college. Hopefully I'll have the move complete this week and I can begin scrapping again. It's been so long and I know I must this week since I have a card order to get filled. So keep your eyes out because I should be back soon.....
