Perfect Day Fishing

It's been a crazy busy weekend for my family.  This weekend we took a trip to Billingsley Alabama so I could participate in the Almighty Mud Run yesterday.  Talk about a lot of fun.  Met more of my fellow GORMR (Georgia Obstacle Racing and Mud Runners) team mates, ran with several of the ladies and just had a blast.  Here in the next couple of weeks I'll put together the shadow box for my medal and probably scrap some pics, but for now......

I have another Fishing with Dad card to share with you.  Marjorie Ann Designs did a really good job designing this file and as you've probably noticed this is my third card using these adorably cute characters.

This time though I wanted to do something a little different.  Especially since I got these cute Splish Splash sequins from over at Craftin Desert Divas.  I thought these little dolphins would be perfect to use with this file in creating a shaker card.  I've never done one like this so it took me a bit to figure it all out.  And while there are some little oopsies I think the overall card turned out pretty good.

I also found the perfect sentiment from one of my Craftin Desert Diva stamp sets - Picture That.  To finish off the card (and hide one of my oopsies  :) ) I used a couple of skittles in the color Stream from DoubleClick Connections.

And now I'm going to enter this into a couple of challenges - something I haven't done in a while.  The challenges are:

Hiding in my Craft Room - Freestyle - Ends Junes 6th

Craftin Desert Divas - Summer - Ends June 7th

DoubleClick Connections - Father's Day or Man's Card - Ends June 9th

DL Art - Father's Day Thankful Thursday - Ends June 9th

Stinkin' Cute

Happy Friday everyone!  Today I am sharing a card with you that I created using the Cutie KaToodles Girl Pig from Kadoodle Bug Designs.  This is the first time I've used one of these files and I must say that they do make up really cute.

Now I will admit that I took the lazy way out and instead of cutting and piecing all the corn kernels on the cob, I embossed it with one of my folders.  I also have to admit that I had messed up on my eyes when I tried to color in the whites with my gel pen.  I'm not sure what I did but she looked pretty weird.  Needless to say I was elated when I discovered that I could save the eyes by using my single hole punch to create the whites.

The stamped sentiment that I used is from Craftin Desert Divas and the stamp set is titled Just Pigcause.

You're a Party Animal

Yesterday was my husband's birthday and my mom will celebrate hers in just a couple of days.  So I thought I'd share a cute little party animal card that I put together.

This party animal lion shaped card is another of the newbie files released by Marjorie Ann Designs.  And of course he's appropriately named You're Such a Party Animal - Lion

What I really love about this file is that everything (card base and layers) all come in one file making it super easy to be sure everything matches in size.  Not only that but this card was super easy to piece together.  Heck that's one of the things that I love about Marjorie Ann Designs - very seldom do I find myself scratching my head trying to figure out how pieces go together.  Of course by now I'm sure you've noticed just how much I love her files.

A Jurassic of a Layout

I have a layout that I'd like to share with you today.  It's a one page layout and this finishes up the scrapping of our pictures from the Jurassic Park section of our trip to Universal Studios.

Since the one picture had the jeep in the background I thought that it would be perfect to use the jeep from the When I Grow Up Zookeeper file over at Marjorie Ann Designs.  Since this file is a zoo theme and my layout is more dinosaur I had to use only those pieces that would fit my theme.  So that meant not using the adorable monkey that sits in the passenger seat.  That's okay though because it still looks fine.

And the page I found in the Kidosaurus stack from DCWV was perfect too.  All those bones printed on the page worked perfectly to tie in with the picture we took of the dinosaur fossil along the path in Jurassic Park....

Bee Happy

Today I have a two-fer that I'd like to share with you.  Marjorie Ann Designs recently released several new shaped cards and I just knew that I had to play with them.  Well I loved this Bee Happy shaped card so much that I had to make not one but two different ones to see which way I liked best.

I will admit that the first time piecing it together was a slight challenge for me, but after that it was easy peasy. Because this card file is in two separate files I thought I'd share with you the sizes I used to create my cards.  For the layers my file is 15.49in x 7.94in.  The card base is 9.7 in x 6.62in.  And this gave my an overall card size of 5 x 5 inches.

On my first card I opted to use skittles from DoubleClick Connections Summer 2015 release for the "eye" of my flowers.  These are banana color.    One the second card I chose to emboss the "eye" of my larger flower.

I even decorated the inside of both cards.

I made a copy of the placard and enlarged them for the inside sentiment.  Then using the print 'n cut feature I made a couple cuts of the bee from the Busy Little Bee file - also from Marjorie Ann Designs.

My stamped sentiments are from the Just Saying and Birds and Bees stamp sets from Cardz TV Stamps.

The emblem where my sentiment is stamped did have Superman's 'S' inside but I cut that away so I could use the space for the sentiment.

So Cool

Hello everyone and welcome to our crafty Cardz TV Cards Design Team season finale blog hop.  As we close our current term for summer break we thought it only fitting to have an Anything Goes style blog hop.

For my project I used this cute little Lemonade Bear from Marjorie Ann Designs and because he's carrying a pitcher of lemonade I decided to feature the Just Sayin stamp set, and it's perfect for this card phrase "You're so cool"

I think this stamp set quickly became a favorite of mine as it's the one I seem to grab most often since it's release.

And now that you've seen my project be sure to hop around and check all of the other great cards that were created.  Be sure you start at the beginning because I promise you won't want to miss out on any of the fun and inspiration.  Oh and there'll be some blog candy in there too.

Now on with our line-up:

Cardz TV Cards Blog Hop - Tomorrow

Happy Friday everyone.  As we get ready for tomorrow's Cardz TV Cards design team blog hop I thought I'd take a moment today to re-share with you one of my favorite card I've created this past term.

This is one that I made back in January for one of our anything goes challenges.  My husband had just surprised me with a Silhouette Cameo for Christmas and I found this card in the store and fell in love with it.  I'm still hanging on to this one too because I'll be giving it to my dad for Father's Day next month.  He's an avid fisher so this is just perfect for him.

The sentiment that I used on this card is from the  Cardz TV Stamps Summer Fun stamp set.

And if you like this card be sure you come back tomorrow to join us for our blog hop.  There will be lots of great projects from the design team as well as some blog candy along the way.

Birthday Bananas

Happy Wednesday.  It's the middle of the week and that means it's all down hill from here.....the weekend is right around the corner and I am so glad!

Today I have a birthday card that I'd like to share with you.  For this one I used the Gone Bananas file from Marjorie Ann Designs.  These monkeys are all so adorable and I love that this one is peaking out from behind the leaves of a palm tree.

I tried something different with his eyes and I'm thinking I like that shaded look on the eyes in addition to the lashes.  Although I've seen some awesome looking eyes without the shading. ...... Maybe it's just because I'm new at the technique.  Either way I'm sure I'll try it again, and who knows maybe I'll get better with practice.

I also decided to place my monkey on an action wobble.  Because of his size I thought I'd use two for better balance.  What I did not take into consideration before doing so was that it would limit the range of motion of the wobble.  However, my monkey still wiggles and that's fine with me.

The stamped sentiment I used on my card is from the Jaded Blossom stamp set Super Hero.

And now I'm off to enter my card in the following challenge:

Jaded Blossom - Go Wild, Any Wild Animal - Ends June 6th

(EDIT:  I placed the wobbles one on top of the other)

Too Cute by Jessica - $25 Gift Card Regular Priced Patterns

Now here is my project I've created for this party.

For my project I used the Craftin Desert Divas stamp set titled Picture That.  It's a great little stamp set with all kinds of opportunities.  I love the font that was used in creating these stamps because it's not all block letters.

I also used the Graduation file I Did It! by Marjorie Ann Designs for my graduating senior.  Our youngest child graduates in less than a month so this was perfect.

Now it's your turn!! Head on over to
Craftin Desert Divas to see the amazing projects by the design team. Then Craft It Up & Link It UP!! I can't wait to see what you create.

Smile

Today I have a quick, fun card I'd like to share with you.  It's been quite a long time since I've made a shaker card of any king but today I did it.  You see I have this little pack of Pitch Perfect sequins from Craftin Desert Divas that were begging to be used.  Of course it didn't take me long to decide what file I wanted to use either.

With all the decisions made I set off to work cutting all the pieces I'd need.  I chose to use the singer from the Marjorie Ann Designs file When I Grow Up - Rock Star Boys and then I also used the Shape Frame (#M31AEB) from the Cricut cartridge Wild Card.

For the shaker portion of the card I cut four of the frames and layered three of them together.  I then hid the contour on the frame and cut two solid pieces.  One for the foundation and the other I cut from one of my old mat covers.

I stamped my sentiment from the Crafting Desert Divas stamp set titled Say it Big.  I then added my clear cover in between the frame layers and set it aside to dry.  While that was drying I glued my shaker base in place on the card, added a pinch of the sequins and then adhered the top frames in place.

And viola - I have finished first shaker card.  Nice thing about this one is that I can use it for a variety of occasions and I love it when that happens.

Mother's Day Diva

I have a quick card to share with you today.  My friend Marge over at Marjorie Ann Designs asked if I would mind trying out a cut file that a friend of hers created.  The young lady is learning how to create SVG files and they wanted to see how this one turned out....

If you ask me I think she's pretty stinkin' cute.  And she was perfect for using with this scrap of shopping bag paper I found in my stash.

Add in a couple of shell pink skittles from DoubleClick Connections and boom......I have a cute little Mother's Day card.

MS Spartan Shadow Box

Happy Tuesday everyone.  I sure hope that wherever in the world you are you are enjoying beautiful weather much like we are here in Florida.  I had so much fun being outdoors this past weekend and even got in some training for my next OCR (obstacle course race) but before I tell you about that I want to share a shadowbox I finally put together from the first race I did with my 19 year old son.

We did this race last October in Kiln, MS and if you've been following my blog for any period of time you've seen some scrapbook pages from this race as well.  As you can tell this is us after the race and I definitely enjoying my banana.  :o)

For my shadowbox I used a couple of different files.  I used the Mud Run file from Marjorie Ann Designs for my boy.  Admittedly I did change him up just a little bit.  In the file he's has mud in his hair but I swapped that out for a headband and he's also holding a trophy which I swapped for a medal.  The medal is from the Cricut digital cartridge Track and Field.

Hopefully my next Spartan Race for this year will be a Super this October, and if all goes well my oldest daughter and I will be running that one together.  In the meantime I have a few runs in FL and AL that I'm doing.  My next one is coming up on the 16th so in preparation I spend some time outdoors with my "toys" doing some functional training.  I can't afford the time and expense of a Crossfit gym and this works so much better for me because I can go at my own pace.  So this weekend I was out there doing circuits of
  • tire flips with a 200+ pound tire - 5 flips one way and 5 flips back
  • Hit that tire with my 8lb sledgehammer, alternating arms as I swing for 20 hits
  • slinging some battle ropes and I have no idea what those things weigh but they are heavy and it's not as easy as the pros make it look ;o)
  • 20 squats while holding on to my 30lb sandbag
  • bucket carry - I didn't measure my distance but I just walked the length of my yard and back at its longest point.  And I have no idea what my bucket weighs but it's 3/4 full of rocks like they made us carry at the Atlanta Sprint this past March
  • finished it all off with a few spear throws as this is an obstacle that is nicknamed the burpee maker and I for one am tired of doing those burpees
Later I was off to the gym for a 3.56 mile run so that I could complete my Remember the Fallen virtual race.

And that was my Sunday Funday......

Take a Bite

The Walking Dead might be done for the season but our favorite characters are just a cut file away with this wonderful Walking Cute file over at Marjorie Ann Designs.  These guys are great and easy to piece together.   You have to admit, once you see this file every one does look pretty cute...well except for that zombie character.  I guess compared to what those zombies really do look like this guy's pretty cute too though.

Today I want to share a card I made using Carol and her infamous cookies.   That episode with the little boy and the cookies was one of the best ones all season.   But now here's a question for you.....Do you think that this "new" side of Carol makes her a new breed of villain - if you will?  I'm kind of on the fence, but I'd say she's definitely getting close.

My stamped sentiment for this card is from the V is for Villain stamp set from Jaded Blossom.  This particular set comes in a bundle along with one of the candy stamp sets with the same theme and it's perfect for using on Hershey kisses.

Oh and here are some pieces I put together using this file.  I made these for my friend Marge so that she could create a shadowbox to send to none other than her favorite, Darryl Dixon.
