Valentine Mailbox

I discovered by accident that this great 3D valentine mailbox was the free cut of the week in Cricut Design Space and I just had to play with it.  I wanted it to be large enough to hold little valentine cards (like the ones we used to exchange with our classmates in elementary school) so I had to have a sturdy paper to use.  Fortunately I had enough sheets of this great heart paper from the Rockstar mat stack by DCWV to do the job.

 

To 'decorate' my mailbox I used this adorable Ewe Make Me Happy file from Too Cute by Jessica.  I used both print 'n cut and piecing for my sheep.  The one on the front of the mailbox is pieced and the two on the sides are print 'n cut.  The stamped sentiment is from the Say it Big stamp set by Craftin' Desert Divas.

 

After putting my mailbox together I decided to make a couple of valentine cards to go with it.  For these I used a variety of both Cricut cuts and SVG files: 

• Cupid is from the Cricut cartridge Seasonal Characters
• Ariel a combination of an SVG file that I layered with a heart from Gypsy Wanderings and some text.  After putting it all together in DS I grouped the pieces and flattened them so that it would print as one piece.
• Tigger is an SVG from one of my groups
• Love lamb is a clip art this is included with the Ewe Make Me Happy file that I brought in to DS and turned into a print 'n cut

As for the stamped sentiments - those are from Craftin Desert Divas (Say it Big) and Cardz TV Stamps (Snail Mail).

Thank goodness for weekends.  I really needed some time to just sit down and play in my craft room.  It's been a busy, crazy, stressful work week so it was great to sleep in an extra hour and then wake up to having my oldest son home for a bit. 

 

The card I'd like to share with you today was not created for Valentine's Day but for an anytime someone needs a pick me up.  However, it could be used for Valentine's as well - it just wasn't where my brain was going.  LOL

 

I found this wonderful Pooh Bear svg in one of my groups so it's not my own creation and that means I can't share it - sorry.

 

My stamped sentiment is from the Cardz TV Stamps stamp set Beary Sweet.  The skittles are from a set that I found at Michael's.

 

I based the layout of my card on the sketch below that is this week's challenge over at Die Cuttin' Divas so I'm going to enter this card in to their challenge.

Bean & Potato Chowder Recipe Page

 

Today we're taking a brief break from Valentine's Day so that we can bring you scrapped recipe album page complete with a wonderful cold weather recipe.

 

To create this page I used the Bon Appetit chefs file from Too Cute by Jessica.  Now I have to admit that this particular file had some challenges when it came to putting the pieces together.  But if you have the patience it is well worth the effort.  Even though it was more difficult than other files I've done it was still fun.

 

I loved the way Jessica had these guys doing the pyramid in the file pic so I decided to run with it and recreate the "scene" for my recipe page.

I have another Valentine's Day card I'd like to share with you today.  This one was created using the adorable I Heart Ewe file that Too Cute for Jessica made and was offered to the members of the Craftin Desert Divas Gallery on Facebook.

 

My XOXO papers are from the Valentine mat stack that was put out by Michael's in house Recollections line last year.  My heart papers are from an old mat stack by K&Company, also called Valentine.

 

My stamped sentiment is from the Funny Mail 2 stamp set by Jaded Blossom.  I bought this stamp set primarily to use for when I'm filling orders that are placed from my website but as you can see it's versatile enough to use for other occasions as well.

Valentine Spinner Card

Surprise!  I have a Valentine's Day card that I'd like to share with you today.  This one was created using the Valentine Spinner file (#38242) from the Silhouette store.  One of the things that I like about this cut is that you can add your own stamped or handwritten sentiments instead of the word cutouts provided with this file.

 

However, when I was putting my card together I discovered that with all the stamp sets I've purchased over the past year I do not have any for Valentine's Day.  I'm not sure how that happened but I will soon be rectifying that as there are stamp releases getting ready to take place for several companies including Jaded Blossom and Craftin' Desert Divas.  Needless to say I'll be checking these out along with keeping my eye on other companies for potential releases.

I Heart You

 

Today I'd like to share a Valentine's Day project I put together using this great file with the mouse hands in a heart shape.  This was one of the last files I downloaded from an SVG group I was in before the group was closed.  I'm so glad to because I love this little file.

 

The ornaments were ones that I found in the Christmas clearance isle at Michaels last week.  I got them for 75% off and now wish I had picked up more than three packs.  But I didn't want to be too greedy either so I left some behind so that others could enjoy making projects as well.

 

To create these ornaments I used the Mop 'n Glo "method".  Just pour a little mop 'n glo inside the ornament and gently swirl it around so that the entire inside is wet.  Pour the wax back into the bottle and then add in glitter.  Put a finger over the opening and then shake the ornament around so that you get glitter to stick to the inside with no pockets.  Then place back on the tray and allow to dry overnight.

 

I cut the hands and bows from vinyl - using the printable vinyl for the bows.  I tried to layer regular vinyl but because of the size of the project the holes didn't cut too well.  Even using the printable vinyl had challenges though because the bows were so small that the machine could not register the cut marks.  That meant having to print and then cut by hand.

 

Still I think they all turned out beautifully and I can' wait to give these away as gifts this Valentine's Day.

Hello Cutie Treat Box

Happy weekend everyone.  Today I'd like to share a cute little Valentine's Day treat box I put together.  Not sure why but I have been on treat box kick lately and I'm having a lot of fun with them. 

 

For this treat box I used the heart keyhole treat box from Cricut's Tags, Bags, Boxes and More 2.  I found this great double sided paper that was perfect for a box in my stash and was excited to put it to use.  I then cut my owls from a file I found over at Too Cute by Jessica called Valentine Sweeties.  Owls are another thing that I've had a lot of fun making over the past few month and these big eyed cuties were no exception.

 

The stamped sentiment I used for this box is from the Jaded Blossom stamp set titled Hello Hello.
