Ho Ho Ho

Santa's coming, in 49 days, and today I wanted to share a card I made using yet another great file over at Too Cute by Jessica.  This one is titled At the North Pole.  Admittedly I took some artistic license with this one and omitted some of the trimmings that were included.  While I love the overall of the original I felt it was too busy to go with the background paper I was using.  Instead I wanted to focus more on snowflakes and that's what I did.

 

To create my card I used a couple of scrap papers that I had in my stash.  The one for the green door I know is from DCWV but I can't remember the other.  To add a bit of dimension I used a small red and white polka dotted brad - also from my stash.

 

The snowy roof tops and ground were ran through my Xyron and then I applied some of Martha Stewart's cararra marble and snow glitters.  This gave the card some texture while also adding just a small amount of bling.  The snowflakes you see on Santa's house are also from my stash.  I found these a couple of years ago at one of the local scrapbooking stores. 

 

For Santa's face I broke out my Peachy Keen Stamps and stamped it using the Everyday Character Faces.  And for Santa's bag I used some brown memory thread in place of the rope.  Then I stamped my sentiment on his bag using the recently released stamp set from My Craft Spot titled Naughty or Nice?

Gobble Gobble

 

Welcome to another Skittles Challenge.  For this challenge we are working with polka dots or circles.  As you can see though I chose to play with both.

 

I found this wonderful Thanksgiving file called Thankful Wishes over at Treasure Box Designs and immediately fell in love with it.  That turkey upside down in the pot pie caught my eye and that was all it took.  Combine that with this wonderful Lil Tweets Thanksgiving stamp set from Peach Keen Stamps and you're half way there.

 

To finish off my card I used some scraps from a couple of different Fall Themed mat stacks I have.  Both stacks are from DCWV and came out last year.  Then I used a small scrap from my stash and punched out the two circles where I placed my caramel skittles from DoubleClick Connections.

Naughty or Nice

I came across a challenge over at Moving Along with the Times yesterday and the theme is winter is coming.  You either make a winter theme project or throw in an alternative twist with Game of Thrones.  As soon as I saw that I thought about the great mini hop that SVG Cutting Files had earlier this year and decided to give it a whirl.

 

Of course I had to use my Jon Snow cuts because what Game of Thrones fan can resist his charm?  Then you also have to have his trusty companion Wolf.  And so my card was created.

 

For Jon's garments I used a variety of metallic type papers.  The bottom layer of his garments were cut from black aluminum, then the 'armor' plate and cloak were cut from a black metallic paper and the shoulder pieces of his cloak were cut from a different type of a dark gray metallic paper.  All of these provided a great balance of differing shades and textures to the cut.

 

My snow covered ground was created using Martha Stewart crystal coarse and carrara marble glitters.

 

Finally, the sentiment.  As I looked through my many stamps I was trying to decide what sentiment to use.  None really stood out to me until I saw this one from My Craft Spot.  As I have watched Game of Thrones throughout the years you sometimes wonder if Jon is being Naughty or Nice.  Of course his naughty days (like the season he traveled with Mance and his gang) always end up being for the greater good.

 

But there you have it.  My first official Game of Thrones card.  Now I'm off to enter this into the following challenges:

Happy Fall Ya'll

 

Today I have a Fall card that I want to share with you.  Yep, no holiday theme today, just a plain fun Fall season card.

 

For this one I used this great Snoopy scarecrow that I received during a recent SVG Cutting Files blog hop.  I'm telling you guys if you have a machine that does SVG files and you aren't participating in these blog hops you are missing out BIG TIME. .............  Jumping off my 'soap box' now.  LOL

 

Since Snoopy is a scarecrow I wanted to add some hay bales in to the pic and used these bales from the Old West cartridge. 

 

To finish off my card I used this great sentiment from the recently released Hey Pumpkin stamp set by Craftin Desert Divas.

From Our House to Yours

I did a good bit of card making this past weekend.  And today I'd like to share one of those cards with you.  This one was created using the Baking for Santa file from Too Cute by Jessica.

 

All of the gingerbreads in this file are as cute as can be and are so easy to piece together.  If you've been following my blog long enough you know how big I am on SVG files that fit the easy to do profile.  This is my third piece from this particular file and I have yet to be disappointed.

 

So I also used some of the goodies that I won from the recent birthday challenge over at Exploring Cricut.  They celebrated their 4th birthday and had a challenge complete with prizes.  My sweet 16 card was selected and I won some yummy 6x6 papers, rhinestones and other card making goodies.  Here I used the paper and rhinestones.

 

For the gingerbread's trim I used some dimensional glitter paint which I heat embossed to let it puff up and then set quicker than traditional air drying.

 

And for my sentiment I used the new Simply Christmas stamp set from Craftin Desert Divas.

Carve Out Some Fun

I found a couple of challenges this week that I wanted to play along with but didn't have time until this morning to create a card in order to so.  Now I realize that Halloween is officially over; however, a challenge is a challenge.....

 

One of the challenges was a color challenge and the colors were orange, green and purple.  Another challenge was to create a project for Halloween.  And then there was yet another one that I had played in already that is still ongoing for a couple more days where the theme is also Halloween.

 

So to create this quick and simple card I used the pumpkin from one of the Halloween Cracker Boxes by SVG Cutting files.  I placed him on an action wobble to help add an element of fun to go along with that crazy pumpkin guy to his left.

 

My sentiment is from the Craftin Desert Divas stamp set Ghostly Greetings.  I punched along the bottom of the sentiment using my Martha Stewart drippy goo punch.  Then I added some pumpkin pureness skittles from the Spooky Fun release over at DoubleClick Connections.

Have a Beary Christmas

Hey everyone!  I have another cute as can be Christmas card to share with you today. 

 

This ever so cute as can be fella is from the Christmas Dress Up Bears file over at Too Cute by Jessica.  I absolutely love her files because they are so stinking easy to piece together.  I'll be honest and tell you, some of the SVG files out there are more than I want to deal with.  But these are perfect!

 

So there's nothing fancy going on with my card.  I wanted to keep it simple so that the cuteness didn't get lost in a bunch of bling or fan fare. 

 

The stamped sentiment is from the recently released Christmas Critter Captions stamp set over at Cardz TV Stamps.  I love the way that it lined up perfectly to fit in between the paper's dots.

 

The skittles are Frosty Kisses from the Black Friday 2013 release over at DoubleClick Connections.

 

See - quick, simply and oh so cute.  Just the way I like it.
