Come N Get It

Today I have a quick card to share that was chosen to be printed in one of Cricut Magazine's issues this summer but then I was told they were going to have to drop my card due to space constraints.  Even though I was saddened by the news I decided it was okay since I've been published two or three times already.  So now I bring it to you guys and gals here.

This was a quick card to put together.  I used one cartridge and one only - Block Party.  However, I did "cheat" and use a sticker for that yummy  plate of food mom's bringing to the table.  I was too afraid to cut those out for fear of things not cutting quite right.

And now I think I'll go enter this card in the following challenges:

Summer Treats challenge over at Fantabulous Cricut Challenges. Sure it's not a sugar treat but hamburgers and hot dogs are still one heck of a summer treat.

Summer Time over at Craftin Desert Diva's.  Anything to do with summer goes for this challenge, and what says summer better than a good ol' BBQ

Food, Food, and More Food over at My Sheri CRAFTS.  Anything that features food.

UPDATE:  My card was chosen as one of the Design Team's top 5 over at Fantabulous Cricut Challenge.  What an honor!

Test? Who's Got Time For That?

School is quickly approaching (one month to go) and that means it's time to start making all of those back to school projects the kids hate and moms everywhere are anxious to delve into.  Today I wanted to share a card with you.  This one focuses on those pesky tests we all love to hate, but this one is designed to have a little funny encouragement.....
For my project I used:
Locker Talk for:
the Desk cut at 3 1/2"
the Paper cut at 1"
the Pencil scaled down to less than an 1"

PPDU for the boy cut at 3"

Everyday PPD for the shoes cut at 3"

Plantin Schoolbook for the numbers/symbols scaled down to about 3/4" tall and welded together.

The inside sentiment says:
As long as teachers give tests, there will always be prayer in schools.

Sweet Summer Treats

Happy Friday everyone. It's time for another fun challenge over at Pause Dream Enjoy and our design team has created some wonderful projects for you.  The directive for this challenge was to create a project using any sweet summer treat of our choosing.

Of course when one thinks about sweet summer treats the first things that generally come to mind are berries, watermelon, and ice cream.  But what about all the other yummies that the season has to offer like sumptuous, fresh off the vine tomatoes or how about those delightful pitchers of lemonade that scream out to us whether the kids are around or not?  And it was that line of thinking that brought me to creating my card with a pitcher of lemonade as the focal point.

I used Block Party for my lemonade pitcher, cutting the top layer from a piece of plastic that had somewhat of a 'design' to it.  My reasoning being that I felt it would make the pitcher look more realistic.

The small circle that says "Life" was cut from George.

The flowers were all cut from Accent Essentials.  Oh, look at the purple on one the inside of the card.  That's a perfect example of how to use a 'mistake' to your advantage.  I misjudged where to place my paper on the mat and it cut off the tips of the two bottom legs on my flower.  Instead of throwing it out though I decided to strategically adhere to the very bottom edge of the card so that no one would be the wiser.  Well, except for you guys.....lol

Now that you've seen my take on this week's challenge hop on over to take a look at all the other yummy projects our team has created.  Then after you've been amply inspired, create your own sweet summer treat, link up and play along for your chance to win a $5 gift certificate from

June in January CCChallenge #100

Happy Wednesday my fellow bloggers!  Today I'd like to share a card that I created for the June in January Cricut Cardz Challenge #100.  Our directive for this week was to make a card with summer as our theme using any cartridges and colors of our choosing.  Since we're talking summer I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to use my Block Party cartridge for the first time.

Using Block Party I cut my grill master at 5 1/2".  To add a bit of texture to the mix I used my mosaic embossing folder for the apron.  Before running the cut through I smear some orange colored ink to the folder.

The grill was cut at 5 1/4" and while you can't really see it in the picture I added some glossy accents to the handles and wheel hubs.

The cartoon bubble (aka call out) was cut from Graphically Speaking and then pop dotted to add some dimension to the card.

So a man thinks he can cook better on an outdoor grill than what you ask?

............than his wife can on an indoor stove.

And now that you've seen my card be sure to check out the other awesome designs created by the team.  Then create your own, link up and play along with us.

You're Da Man

Here's another quick and easy masculine card that I've put together using Block Party.  The best part is that this card can be used for several "manly" occasions:  birthday, thank you, Father's Day, etc.

So I've been looking at this cartridge since it came out but never could justify buying it at full price.  However, now that Walmart has clearanced everything it was easy to do.  We were concerned as we went through the clearance aisle though because there was so much craft stuff on clearance.  I mean everything scrapbook related was there as well as some of the new fabrics they just brought in.  So when we saw an employee we asked about it.  She assured us that all was well with the craft section and that they were just getting ready for a revamp because they are bringing back the bolts of fabric along with the cutting table.  Seems that they had received a lot of complaints since they did away with it all.
