Dad - You're my Hero

I thought I'd try something a little bit different today.  Cricut Design Space has several of their cut and go style cards free for the making right now so I figured why not make one.  After all they're quick and easy and who doesn't like to have one or two of those in their stash?  And since Father's Day is this weekend I chose this "Dad" card from the Simple Holiday Cards collection.

After cutting out the card I cut a piece of light grey cardstock to use as my backing.  But then I decided I wanted to a little color to the card as well.  Then the idea to turn dad's tie into a shaker hit me.  Using pieces from the Shine Bright pack of sequins from Craftin Desert Divas I accomplished my goal.

I also decided to add a stamped sentiment on the outside of my card.  This one is from the Calling All Superheroes stamp set, also from Craftin Desert Divas.

And now I'm off to enter this card in to the following challenges:

Craftin Desert Divas - Father's Day - Ends June 21st

Die Cuttin Divas - Masculine Theme - Ends June 22nd

DL Art - For a Man or Boy - Ends June 24th

Perfect Day Fishing

It's been a crazy busy weekend for my family.  This weekend we took a trip to Billingsley Alabama so I could participate in the Almighty Mud Run yesterday.  Talk about a lot of fun.  Met more of my fellow GORMR (Georgia Obstacle Racing and Mud Runners) team mates, ran with several of the ladies and just had a blast.  Here in the next couple of weeks I'll put together the shadow box for my medal and probably scrap some pics, but for now......

I have another Fishing with Dad card to share with you.  Marjorie Ann Designs did a really good job designing this file and as you've probably noticed this is my third card using these adorably cute characters.

This time though I wanted to do something a little different.  Especially since I got these cute Splish Splash sequins from over at Craftin Desert Divas.  I thought these little dolphins would be perfect to use with this file in creating a shaker card.  I've never done one like this so it took me a bit to figure it all out.  And while there are some little oopsies I think the overall card turned out pretty good.

I also found the perfect sentiment from one of my Craftin Desert Diva stamp sets - Picture That.  To finish off the card (and hide one of my oopsies  :) ) I used a couple of skittles in the color Stream from DoubleClick Connections.

And now I'm going to enter this into a couple of challenges - something I haven't done in a while.  The challenges are:

Hiding in my Craft Room - Freestyle - Ends Junes 6th

Craftin Desert Divas - Summer - Ends June 7th

DoubleClick Connections - Father's Day or Man's Card - Ends June 9th

DL Art - Father's Day Thankful Thursday - Ends June 9th

Ice Skating Snowglobe - Card Challenge #18

How ironic.....Barbara's ****ignment for me was:

Cart: Christmas Cheer OR Christmas Noel OR Joys of the Season

Cut: any

Theme: Christmas You may use cuttlebug; but do not use Design Studio.

For this card I chose to use the snowglobe from Christmas Cheer and the skater and words are from Winter Wonderland. I have to admit that I was so excited about this idea that I completely forgot about using the cuttlebug.

The snowglobe was filled using Martha Stewart mica flakes, crystal coarse and snow for the texture variety.

Once again my camera and scanner do not wish to cooperate in providing a picture with the vibrant colors that are actually used on the card......I have really got to invest in a better camera soon.

Birthday Dance Shaker Card

For days I was in a creative slump and could not decide what kind of a card I wanted to make for my daughter's 16th birthday. Thing was I was worried that she'd think it immature or lame or any one of the million other things teenagers think these days. So this morning I was looking at my carts and saw the mice from Cinderella and thought that was a cheery, dancing celebration looking "pose" and went with it.

I have also been wanting to try my hand at making a shaker card and so I turned this into one. However, I didn't have acetate so I cut up a plastic type file folder and used it for the cover. All in all I'm pleased with the results.

Shaker Snowman

This card I was created using the Christmas Cheer cartridge. I stickled the trees and stars and created a snow globe type effect for the Snowman's belly.
Season's Greetings is a 3D sticker that I found on clearance at Hobby Lobby.
