Courage, Strength, Sacrifice

Coming from a family full of both retired and active duty military showing support for those who serve is very important to me.  So when I came across the Homeland Heroes stamp set by Scrappy Moms I had to add it to my stash.

Then I came across this awesome Retro Sailor Girl file in the Silhouette Design Store.  This was created by Erin Doran and I was amazed with how beautifully this cut.  Not a single issue.

The background paper I used for my card is from the mat stack Proud to Serve from the Paper Studio.

My Hero

Armed Forces Day is this Saturday and I come from a family that has both active duty and retired military representing three different branches or service:  US Air Force, Marines and Army.  So of course I had to make cards for each branch.

On top of that our family lives within minutes of Eglin Air Force Base located in the Panhandle of FL and for the last couple weeks we have had quite a few war games being played.  Almost every night you can hear them practicing their bombing and other stuff on the reservation just miles from us.  It's actually pretty cool and as a kid I always loved watching the convoys around town.  And to this day I love watching the jets and helicopters come in and take off.  We haven't had an air show in years and boy do I miss that.

But anyhow, I created these cards after being inspired by a quote I found on Pintrest.  I loved it so much that I used it as the sentiment in each of these cards.

The cut files are from Treasure Box Designs and the stamped sentiment on the front of the card is from the Cardz TV Stamps set titled You're the Man.

Hats Off To You

Well we made it through another weekend and just in time for another Pause Dream Enjoy challenge.  This week our projects are showcasing hats.  Yep, make a card, layout or any other project but be sure to put a hat on it somewhere.

For my project I chose to create a salute to the troops and went with a Patriotic theme.  My two cuts are from the Stand and Salute cartridge.  I then adhered a small piece of silver metallic cord to the hat and then adhered the hat to a strip of paper that I ran through the printer with the graphic and verbiage pictured.  The saluting solider I turned around so that the salute would be facing the hat and flag rather than the salute being away from it.

Now that you've seen my project, hop on over to Pause Dream Enjoy and check out all of the other wonderful projects our team created for you this week.  There are some truly inspiring ones waiting just for you.

Then - after you've had a look - create your own project, link up and play along with us for your chance to win a set of CARDZ TV STAMPS (must have a USA address).  You have until March 3rd to get your entries in but don't dilly dally because it'll be here before you know it.......

Celebrating Heroes Gift Tin

Today I'm giving you a two 'fer since I had not had time to post this project earlier this week.  I've had several tins sitting on my shelf waiting for me to do something with them for a while now, and so I decided to actually do something.

This was the last of my paint can tins and I opted to turn it into a gift tin for a military hero.  My dad is retired from the Air Force and we still live within a few miles of the base so I am surrounded by some awesome men and women - thus my theme choice.

For this tin I used one of the July 4th themed pages from the Tim Holtz seasonal mat stack.  I also used cuts from the Stand and Salute cartridge.  My flag was cut twice - once flipped so that I could have the crossed flags.  And of course I couldn't create a military theme without dog tags so I cut one of those as well.  My original intent was to use the cut in conjunction with the flags, but I didn't pay attention to my sizes and it was just too big.

The stickers I used were some that I had leftover after creating some scrapbook pages I did of my Dad's early military career when he was in Vietnam.  I was happy to see just how nicely the circle one fit for the top of my can and couldn't have planned it better if I had tried.

Stand & Salute Military Thanks

I have finally had an opportunity to begin looking over the many assignments from my March blog candy giveaway.  And today's card is a creation based on one of the assignments.....The assignment given by rstuck2003 was a "Father's Day card or thank you card for our military made from the Stand & Salute cartridge. You can use any cut/cuts and any style of card!"

While very simple this is a thank you card using Stand and Salute along with one of the pictures that my husband took at the Annual Eglin AFB Air Show earlier this month.

Support Out Troops - Thank you card

Today's card is one that is near and dear to my heart thanks to being a military "brat" of a retired US Air Force Master Sergeant and granddaughter to a retired WWII Army pilot. I remember growing up listening to my dad and grandad have their little teasing sessions of which military branch was better and why. Oh how I miss those days....

When Michael's had their Thanksgiving day sale dh took me in the hopes of finding some of the newly released cartridges. But there were none to be had other than the ones I already owned. So as I politely made my way through the crowd of ladies whose arms were fully of 7, 8, 9 cartridges I chose Stand and Salute and Sweet Treats.

That night I sat down in my mother-in-law's living room with my Gypsy and began to play. For this card I used Stand and Salute and Paper Pups.

The inside sentiment says "Thank you for your service and dedication to our country"
