Easy Loom Knit Infinity Scarf

Today I have an infinity scarf that I'd like to share with you.  This is a scarf that's very easy to knit.

For this scarf I used the small, pink, 26 peg long loom.  Using the figure 8 stitch I knitted my scarf to the desired length I wanted for a double wrap infinity scarf.  After binding off the scarf I sewed the seams together and there you have it.

Not sure how to do the figure 8 stitch?  You can watch the video here, and she uses the same loom in the video as I used for my scarf.

As for the yarn I used, it's a Pink and Gray Rainbow Boucle by Buttercream.

Patriotic Angel Hair Beanie

As we begin our week I have a quick beanie that I would like to share with you.  This is another loom knitted hat done in a figure 8 stitch.  I tried to crochet a beanie with this angel hair yarn but man did it mess me up.  So after placing the yarn back on the shelf and it sitting there for months I decided to use it with my loom knitting.

I'm glad I decided to make this beanie because I love the way that it turned out with this yarn.  And now I have a pretty, warm and fuzzy hat all ready for the colder weather.

Blackstone Hooded Bear Cowl

In addition to picking back up my sewing I thought it might not be a bad idea to get back to some loom knitting.  Now this doesn't mean that I've given up on learning how to crochet - far from it.  But I'm still a bit slow on the crochet thing and while I can put some hats together there are some that I just can't do without my looms.

For example, this Hooded Bear Cowl.  I was able to complete this project in two days, but that's mixed with taking care of a grandbaby and having to remind myself on how to do some of the stitches.  After all it's been a couple years since I've touched my looms.

Be on the look out though because I'll have different hat styles coming your way.  :)

Purple Monster Beanie

It's a cold one here in the Panhandle of FL today.  Undoubtedly not near as cold as other parts of the country but when you're used to 70 degree temps and you wake up to the 30's it's cold.  So today I have a loom knitted project that I'd like to share with you.

I decided to create a fun purple monster hat for this craft show season and these things went over very well.  They took a while to make up but in the end the time and effort was definitely worth the end result.

To create these hats I  knitted the brim using the garter stitch (K, P x 3) then I ewrap knit for 4, change to black and ewrap knit for 6, change back to purple and ewrap knit for 8 and the did the flat panel bind off (3 rows of k2,p2). For the hair I just cut strands of yarn and tied in knots around the hat starting around the 2nd to 3rd row above the eye. The eye I crocheted using black and chained five, slipped together then crocheted in the center 10x being sure to catch the tail in the SC stitches. Then I changed to white and crocheted two rows of HDC, changed to gray and crocheted one row of SC.

The yarn I used was Lion Brand Hometown USA brand yarn in Portland Wine (dark purple) & Minneapolis Purple (lite purple) and then of course black. It took about 1 skein for the hat and then one for the 'hair'.

Jack Skellington Hat

Today I have a loom knitted hat that I wanted to share with you.  I've seen pictures of these hats on the net and decided that I wanted to try my hand at making one.  Thing is that I'm still trying to learn how to crochet so I broke out my looms and this is what I came up with.

To create this hat (for those of you that loom knit):

Row one: e-wrap knit
Row two:  Purl
Row three:  e-wrap knit
Row four: Purl
This completes the brim of the hat.

E-wrap knit for 20 rows.

To finish the hat do the flat drawstring bind off method that Jeannie Phillips introduced a while back.  This is for the last three rows of the hat and you can watch the video here.

For the eyes I chained 5 then crocheted in the circle with 10 single crochet stitches.
The next row I crocheted around using the half double stitch
For the last row I crocheted around using the single stitch

Then it was time to stitch the eyes, nose and mouth and viola.

Hooded Bear Cowl

Popping in real quick today to share a hooded bear cowl I finished loom knitting earlier this week.  I came across the pattern on Ravelry and was amazed at how quick and easy this was to put together.  It took just a little less than two skeins of Lion Brand thick and quick wool ease yarn.

With the cold weather on the horizon I thought it was the perfect time to start putting a few together.  My kids are too old to wear something like this now, but they'll still make great gifts for the younger nieces and nephews.

So now that I know how easy they really are to knit up I guess I need to get back to Walmart so I can buy some more yarn.....

Blue Eyed Monster Beanie

It's the beginning of a new week and that means all kinds of new challenges have popped up in blogger land. However, I took the weekend off from papercrafting so that I could get some hats knitted.  All in all it was a successful weekend too since I was able to finish one I had going and get two others completed as well.

Don't fret though as I will be back in the saddle this evening getting things underway.  So be on the lookout. I have plans for some more Christmas items as well as sports and music related.

In the meantime, I'd like to share one of the beanies I knitted with you.  This one I call my blue eyed monster.  I wanted to do something just a little bit different so I added in a little fun fur to give it that furry 'monster' look.

Dream Catcher Tam

This morning I wanted to take a quick break from papercrafting and share a new hat that I finished the other night.  Sometimes it's not easy finding that perfect balance for my hobbies, but I'm sure trying.  For the longest time I wasn't loom knitting, and now add in that I'm once again trying to learn how to crochet.....

This hat is another new pattern from Once Upon a Loom.  (She has it and several others for sale on Ravelry.)  The yarn is from the Deborah Norville Serenity chunky tweeds collection and the color is Claret. I admit I was a little concerned that the weight wasn't enough but it made a great, light hat and I'm very pleased with the end result.

Another Bow Peep Hat

Here it is the first official day of summer and what am I doing?  Knitting hats for the summer.  Sounds a little strange huh?  Oh well, that's just how I do it.  I have so many things that I love to do that I work on one craft for a while and then migrate to the next and so forth until it all comes full circle.

This is the second hat I've made using this pattern and after making it in a multi-colored yarn I wanted to see how a solid color would look.  I gotta say I like better in the solid.

What do you think?

Little Bo Peep Hat

I have been so busy with my cards and scrapbooking  - And Life - that I haven't sat down to loom knit in months.  But this past week I decided to change that and broke out some yarn and went to work on a new pattern I found at Once Upon a Loom.  Samantha creates some of the best patterns and I love them all.  Even the ones I can't knit because I have yet to master the art of cables.

And now I'm off to begin another project.  Have a great day everyone!

Hat of Many Colors

I haven't posted a loom knitted project in a while so I thought I'd share my latest - and rather colorful - hat with you.  This is one of my slouchy beanies that I love making because of my time constraints takes me a while to complete.

It's very easy to do and it's done on the Martha Stewart loom......

Minion Hat

I loom knitted up several of these hats this year and everyone just crazy over them.  Personally I thought they'd look much better in a crocheted version but I don't know how to crochet - YET!  Regardless they turned out pretty good, were super quick to make and oh so easy....

For those of you who loom knit and would like to make some for yourself you can find the pattern here.  Now before you get alarmed that the instructions for the eye are crocheted I did find a couple of different ways to make the eye on the loom.  After trying two different versions I took what I liked best from both and now make my eyes as follows:

I use the blue KK loom if I'm doing a one eyed hat or the flower loom if I'm doing a two eyed hat.  Cast on the loom and purl one row of gray.  Switch to white yarn and garter stitch two rows.  Switch to black and ewrap for one row and gather bind off.

Monster Hat

Since we had a lot of rain come down this past weekend I decided to stay in and play with my loom knitting.  Not only did this allow me to get a good bit done in preparation for the upcoming show later this month but it also gave me an opportunity to play with a new pattern.

This adorable monster hat is a freebie pattern I found over at Knitting Rays of Hope and while her hat definitely looks better than mine I think this one isn't too shabby for a first attempt.  I will admit to changing up the 'horns' a bit tho.

When I have some more free time I think I'll have to try another one.

Christmas Ascot Scarf

This weekend begins our craft show season with the Oktoberfest.  Needless to say - and as I'm sure you've noticed - I have been doing a good bit of loom knitting in preparation.

Today I wanted to share with you an ascot style scarf I knitted using the Red Heart Starbella yarn and the Garter Amidst Ruffles pattern by Isela Phelps.  This was an easy one to knit and I love the way it turned out.

Who knew you could knit these kind of things with this yarn?

Drop Stitch Ruffle Infinity Scarves

As I prepare myself for Oktoberfest here in a couple of weeks I've been getting a lot of loom knitted and other projects completed.  And today I'd like to share with you a couple of the new infinity scarves I've been working on.  They're so easy to make once you get the hang of it and I have found that if I put my mind to it I can make one in a night.

These are just a couple of the ones I've finished.  I've been making them in all sorts of colors.  But in making them I have found that I much prefer the shorter ones over the long.

Team Pride Snowman

I have been playing around with the Red Heart Team Spirit yarn line a lot lately and tonight I had the brilliant idea to try making a ruffle scarf for my snowman toilet paper covers.  I wasn't sure how it would turn out but I love it.

What do you think?  And no, I'm not a GA fan - it just happened to be the yarn that was closest when the idea hit.

It's Almost Craft Show Time.....

.....so I've been giving my looms a run for their money lately getting scarves and hats all knitted up.  Tonight I wanted to get started on some more of the team spirit items and started with FSU.  Not for any particular reason other than it was the skeins I pulled from the shelf.

So while my oldest son and husband sat watching Evil Dead, I sat knitting, looking up every so often.  It took me two hours to make this hat from start to finish minus the little rosette.  That maybe added in another 15 minutes.

Once I finished the hat I did as I usually do and took a few pictures to post on my Facebook.  Within a couple minutes one of my friends from high school hit me up saying she wanted to buy it.  Guess it's a good thing that I have more yarn and had planned to make a couple more.......

Pomp-A-Doodle Scarf

I just love it when the weekend arrives and I can sit back and play in my craft room while the children sleep or my hubby is playing on his PlayStation. Last night I sat on the bed watching TV and finishing this scarf while they were playing Call of Duty.  And this morning I'm in my craft with my embroidery machine running next to me while I'm checking in on my blog, pintrest and other crafty stuff.

Recently I've seen a lot of ladies using the pom pom style yarn to create these beautiful scarves and I just had to give it a try.  Needless to say I love the look and texture to this scarf.  It's nice and soft and sure to keep a neck warm without too much weight.

If you're a loom knitter like me and want see how you can create a scarf using the pom pom yarn check out this You Tube Video here.

Slouchy Beanie

I haven't really loom knitted in a while but having been the lucky recipient of an advanced copy of the new Loom Knitting for Mommy and Me book I had to get back at it.  Of course I had to start with something simple so I could kinda get my groove back and good thing too since I felt like an idiot having forgotten some of my simple stitches.  Geesh..........
But I finally got my first project done - with a slight modification.  I love Jeannie Thompson Phillips flat drawstring bind off so much that I HAD to use it instead of the gathered bind off called for in the pattern.  Sorry Kathy.

Now I just need to find a good scarf pattern to compliment the beanie.  Don't you just love this yarn color?  It's the Loops & Thread Impeccable in "Holland".

Santa Toilet Paper Cover

After making a couple of snowman TP covers I just knew there had to be a way to turn this adorable pattern I found on Brenda's (aka Loom Lady) blog  into a Santa.  So after much thought I sat down this past week, gave it a whirl and this was the end result.  Now I must say that I'm pretty pleased with the outcome and just absolutely ecstatic that he turned out so stinkin' cute.

So how did I do this you ask?  Well first you need to download the snowman TP cozy pattern here.  Using a red yarn (I used Lion Brand Homespun) follow the directions for the body.  After creating the 'brim' do a color change and follow the directions for the head using a flesh tone yarn.

To create Santa's beard I used a white boa (single strand) and on the front portion of the face I stitched a take on the lazy daisy embroidery stitch.  I did this stitch on every row from the color change to almost half way up the face.

Santa's eyes are nothing more than 15 mm animal eyes that I found in my stash since I couldn't find matching buttons in the size I wanted.

For Santa's belt and buckle I used a black ribbon from my stash and created the buckle using a scrap piece of plastic canvas and a gold metallic cord to stitch it up.

For Santa's hat I e-wrap cast on the red knifty knitter 31 peg loom using a single strand of boa and a single strand of 4 ply white yarn.  I did an e-wrap knit for 8 rows, made a brim and then did a color change with a single strand of red eyelash and a single strand of 4 ply red yarn.  Continue to e-wrap knit in the round for 10 rows.

At this point I started to do a decrease on each side and knit in a flat panel.  So what you do is create your decrease on each side, e-wrap knit in the flat panel style for two rows, do another decrease on both sides of the row, e-wrap knit for two rows and repeat until you have 11 pegs left with loops remaining.  Continue to e-wrap knit until your hat is the desired length and then do a drawstring cast off.  Now stitch the sides up together, add a pom pom and viola!
