Feel Better Harvey

Perhaps it's because I am under the weather myself but today I have chosen to share a simple get well card with you.  This one is simple because I allowed the pre-made, embossed card blank to do all the background work for me.

For this card I used one of the adorable hippos from the Harvey Under the Weather file by Marjorie Ann Designs.  There are six different 'poses' to choose from in this file but I decided on the one with the soup since I've already had chicken noodle soup from Chic-fil-A twice this week.  When I'm not feeling well there is nothing better than their chicken noodle soup.

It doesn't show up all that well in picture but I embossed the steam coming off the soup with my swirls embossing folder.  I then lightly brushed some blue ink across the embossing to help the steam stand out somewhat.

The stamped sentiment is from the stamp set Tissue Time by Craftin Desert Divas.

Tissue Time

Well it's that time of year.  Time where the weather gets crazy and people all around begin to become ill with some kind of cold, flu or other illness.  Fortunately our family has not fallen prey to any of these yet, but I thought it would still be a good idea to create a get well card.  You just never know when you might need one.

I created this card using the recently released Harvey Under the Weather svg file from Marjorie Ann Designs.    And I used the Tissue Time stamp set from Craftin Desert Divas.

Bandaids Make Everything Better

Remember as a kid when  you had a boo boo and you ran to mom asking for a Band-Aid?  My kids used to ask for them all the time.  Especially after they started making all the fun ones with cartoon characters and such.

Of course when I saw this cute Alphabet Baby with her N block and Band-Aid I just had to make another get well card.  This little cutie is so perfect for one too.  She was easy to put together and it took no time at all.......well until I realized that I had adhered my baby and her block upside down on my folded card.

Oh how I wanted to cry.  I loved the way she looked on the embossed background and I just couldn't let such a cute piece of work go to waste.  So I did the next best thing.  I cut the card in half and found a piece of cardstock that would work beautifully as a background.  And I must say I love the way this turned out.

Where did I find this little cutie you ask?  Well from Marjorie Ann Designs of course.  You can find this Alphabet Baby with her N block here.  And my sentiment is from the Tissue Time stamp set from Craftin Desert Divas which you can find here.

I even used the stamps to play around on the inside of my card - stamping a few Band-Aids here and there instead of a sentiment.

I've always loved how some of the stamp sets that Craftin Desert Divas has been coming out with go so perfectly with files from Marjorie Ann Designs and vice versa.  These ladies along with Kristi from Kristi W. Designs really know how to get out there and give their customers the best bang for their buck.

Speedy Recovery Wishes

Today I decided to try my hand at a remake of last week's get well card featuring this cute little mouse in a medicine bottle.  I loved the way he looked so much but wondered how much cuter he'd be if I used a printed paper for the card base.  Well now I know.

I used a piece of paper from my DCWV stack called the Homeroom.  I chose this paper because I thought the circles were done in such a way that they looked like pills.  After all what could be better for a get well card background?

So using the same Get Well Wishes Shaped Card from Marjorie Ann Designs, I made version two of my card.  This time I opted to use my script embossing folder for the label on my medicine bottle.  And I love the way that turned out as well.

On the inside of my card I used the label 'face plate' from one of the other card files.  I think this dresses up the inside better and I might even go back and add some pills to the inside of the card as well.  I just haven't decided yet.  In the meantime though my stamped sentiment that you see if from the Tissue Time stamp set from Craftin Desert Divas.

Feel Better

Today I have a fun get well card to share with you.  This is another one of the recently released shaped cards from Marjorie Ann Designs.  This one is titled Get Well Wishes - Shaped Card.

After I cut this little cutie out and put it all together I realized that using a white background for my card was not the best of ideas because it looked 'empty' with all that white space.  So I set the card aside for a couple of days, but left it where I could see it.  That way I could look at it and ponder what to do.  .....  Then one day I remembered seeing these great cards where the artists used stamps to create their background so I thought I'd give it a try.

Using one of the stamps from the Tissue Time stamp set by Craftin Desert Divas, I tried my hand at creating the background......yes, after the fact.  After all, you know what they say about hindsight.  LOL

And I used one of the stamps for my inside sentiment as well.  This set is just perfect for this file and the Get Well Wishes file as well.

TLC From Me to You

It's another fine Monday and in our area it's starting out to be a rainy day.  So what could be more fitting than this cute card I have to share with you this morning.

My card was created using one of the cute little Poopez files from SVG Cutting Files.  This little fella is Sleep Pee.  His poor little face looks like one that could be tired, sad or just plain not feeling it.  And with this dreary weather that's how I'm kinda feeling this morning.  But that makes this perfect to use for either a get well card, encouragement or Just Because...

The sentiment that I used for my card is from the recently released stamp set titled Tissue Time by Craftin Desert Divas.

Get Well Mouse

Hello everyone.  Today I have a get well card to share with you.

This one was made using the Get Well Wishes file from Marjorie Ann Designs.  I also tried out a new product on this one - Adhesive Fabric from DCWV.  Right now the jury is still out on what I think about it.  I mean it's a great concept but I'm still waiting to see how well it holds up once stuck on to the medium (in this case my card blank).  What I can tell you though is that I had a small bit of trouble getting the piece to cut down to the size I needed.  My paper trimmer didn't slice through it like it would regular paper.

My stamped sentiment on this card is from the Craftin Desert Divas stamp set Say it Big.

Get Well Tissue Cover

With so many different illnesses and sniffles going around I thought I'd create a Get Well project.  Some time back I came across this great file for creating a cover for the pocket packs of Kleenex and I saved it not knowing when or if I'd ever really use it.  Well, this past weekend I decided to dust it off and put it to use.  If you'd like to get your own copy of this file visit Jamiek711 Designs' blog here.

For my cover I decided to use this ever so cute Get Well Wishes file from Marjorie Ann Designs.  I mean seriously, how much more perfect could this mouse with his own box of Kleenex be for this project?

The only hard part about this was deciding what paper to use.  After looking through several of my mat stacks I settled on one from DCWV titled All About Girls.  My stamped sentiment is from the Say it Big stamp set from Craftin Desert Divas.

I'm entering this into the following challenge.

Get Well Flowers

Who remembers when making these flower pot cards were all the rage about two years ago?  I loved these cards then and I still love them now.  I have so much fun making these little guys and whenever I give one away the recipient always smiles upon seeing their card.

With that said, who wouldn't want to put a smile on the face of someone who's under the weather and not feeling well?  Of course we all do and so today I'd like to share one of my "get well" flower arrangements.  For this card I used my trusty little DS cut file I created back in the day using:

George for the 'card' and flower pot
Mickey and Friends for the flowers
Accent Essentials for the leaves
Sesame Street Friends for the worm
TBBM for the flower tag
Pooh Font for the Get Well

To put this together I used pop dots on the flowers and this helps to situate them just right so they slide in and out of the pot properly without hiding the sentiment.  Add some buttons for the center of the flowers and a ribbon around the pot to hold it all together and viola! You have a unique floral arrangement to show that special someone you care.

If you have the cartridges mentioned above and still use DS like I do, you can download my cut file by going here and selecting the flowerpot - friend and get well file.

Happy Creating!

Get Well Card in 3D

Looking for yet another new fold style to try with your card making?  Why not give this one a try?  I found this one a while back over on  Nicole Kowalk's  blog Under the INKfluence.  At the bottom of her post she has a link for the directions which will download in a PDF format.  They're really easy to follow and I love how the card gives you endless possibilities for whatever creation you choose.

For mine I wanted to play around with some of my Sizzix dies......something I don't do often enough.  Guess it's just because I love my Cricut so much.  LOL  But I am going to have to take some time to make one of these using my Cricut so stay tuned to see what I come up with.

In the meantime have fun......

Feel Better

I have a friend from work that is having surgery this week and I wanted to make a special card for her.  Since I haven't used my E2 much I decided today was as good a day as any to 'dust' it off and give CCR another try.  It wasn't as frustrating today, but I still prefer DS right now.  I guess the more I learn the more I'll like it, but I will always hate that you have to have internet to use it.  So that said, I hope that even when DS is obsolete it will continue to work with what it does now - that way if I lose the 'net I still papercraft........then again, that is why I have my Sizzix stash too.  lol

Anyhoo, for this card I used one cartridge and that is the Just a Note that's pre-loaded on the E2.  I mean why not if I'm going to use my E2?   I decided to use one of the card features which I have not done before.  It all cut very well and the layers matched up almost perfectly as you can see.

The cute little wink-y face on my flower is from one of my Sizzix face stamps.  This was my first time using them and I really like how it turned out.
I admit, the sentiment is one that I took a portion of from a name brand greeting card, but tailored to fit my needs.

And now that my playing is done, I guess it's time to move on to some work.  I have a little bit of mending and ironing to finish before the work week begins tomorrow......

Under the Weather Get Well Card

Today's card is brought to you from the wonderful new April Showers seasonal cartridge.  I just love the boots on this cartridge and truth be told were the motivating factor in my purchase.

For this card I used:

Accent Essentials for the background piece cut at 5 1/4".  I placed a 2nd second cut on the DS mat in such a manner that I could cut the bottom portion only for the grass.

Graphically Speaking for the rain puddles scaled down to sizes that were proportionate with what I was doing.

April Showers for the boots cut at 1 1/2" and the umbrella cut at 2 1/2".

To add texture to the card I used swiss dots to emboss the umbrella.  I also applied glossy accents to the rain drops and lighty sprinkled some turquoise glitter on them.  Glossy accents was also applied to the rain puddles and toes of the boots.

It's a Germy Get Well

This week's Cricut Cardz Challenge  (#35 for those keeping track) was to create a get well card using any cartridge we wanted.  The catch was that we could only use the colors blue, green, black and white.

Well, anyone who knows me and/or follows my blog probably knows by now that I enjoy creating cards with "scenes" and lean towards the cutesy rather than the elegant/serious style.  So being limited to those colors I pondered the decision on what to do.  At this point all I knew was that I wanted to somehow create "germs" like you see in the comical advertisements and PSA's.  After some thinking and playing around this card is what I came up with.

The "germs"  are from Mini Monsters and were cut at 1 3/4" and were pop dotted to the card so as to appear like they were hovering above the bed.

The bed and girl lying in it were created from Everyday Paper Dolls - cut at 3".  The blanket is a swatch of fabric that I tucked into the foot board and then adhered to the card using 3D glue dots to mimic the girl's body and then a line of glue at each edge.

I think that the next time I make this card though I'll need to make my "germs" just a wee bit smaller.

Feel Better Robotz

From the moment I saw the Robotz cartridge I knew I had to add it to my ever growing collection.  Last week a lady on one of my groups mentioned the cricutmachine.com website and I found it there for less than if I had picked it up at Michaels or AC Moore for half price.  Needless to say I was excited and even more so when it was shiped the day after I ordered!

For this week's Cricut Cardz Challenge I chose to feature this fabulous cartridge and let me tell you - if you don't have this one you're missing out.  In addition to using the Robotz cartridge I also used George to cut the "call out" and the kleenex "box".

Piglet Get Well - Card Challenge #22

Laney's assignment for me was: How about Pooh & Friends Use Piglet and make a Get Well Card

I saw this idea done originally with Pooh months ago and thought it was so cute that I chose it for this card.

The bed and the blanket are from the new Every Day Paper Dolls. The blanket was actually a towel that I cut around on to fit my needs.

Quick Hello Kitty Get Well Card

My oldest daughter (who attends college in GA) had surgery today and this was a quick card that I put together for her. The teddy bear is a clip art that I printed twice and pop dotted for a little dimension.

The inside sentiment says, "Hurrying get well wishes for a speedy recovery".

Get Well Card

Here's another one that I did yesterday. Again very simple - unless you consider the layering of colors in the silhouette and then having to trim around to get it all just right. While not a difficult task was a little time consuming, but worth the effort.

The balloon is from Hello Kitty. I just cut the 'tail' off of it and used embroidery floss to make it look a little more 'real'. I also pop dotted it to add a little dimension to the card.
