Gawrsh - It's Your Birthday

Who doesn't love a good birthday?  Especially when there's a fun, classic character like Goofy dropping in to help you celebrate.

For today's card I used the following Cricut cartridges:

Mickey and Friends for Goofy

Everyday Paper Dolls for the glasses on Goofy

Mickey Font for the Gawrsh sentiment

Tags, Bags, Boxes and More for the tag

And now I'm off to enter my card into the following challenge:

Die Cuttin Divas - Kids' Theme - Ends February 21st

Prince Charming's Conversation Hearts

Today I’m going old school.  Pulling out the Cricut cartridges and creating a Valentine themed memory box for my husband.
To create the box I cut:
·         2 pieces of foam core board 9 "x 9" for the top and bottom of the box
·         4 pieces 1" x 8" for the sides of the box
·         1 piece that was 1.25" x 9" to use as the brace for the lid
I then covered the pieces with blue cardstock and on the inside I chose a valentine theme paper to use as my "accent". It was a double-sided print so I used one side for the lid and the other for the bottom of the box.
For the cover of my box I embossed two sheets of white and red paper with the Cuttlebug hearts folder and then created my background square. Prince Charming and Sleeping Beauty were cut at 7" from Happily Ever After. I didn't care for the way the eyes and lips cut so I painted those in and added some red glitter to Beauty's lips.

For the conversation hearts I cut a fry box from Tags, Bags, Boxes and More.  The hearts on the box are from Doodlecharms.  The large one I cut at 3” and the smaller ones I cut at 1”.

To make the "conversation hearts" I cut hearts from Happily Ever After.  These were cut at 3" and then inked. To get the verbiage on them I formatted text boxes the size I needed in Word, did a 'test' print and then placed a small amount of tape on the paper, placed the heart accordingly and then printed to add my verbiage. The font I chose is from dafont.com and is called fontdinerdotcom luveable.

And now I'm off to enter my project into the following challenges:

Fantabulous Cricut Challenge - Valentine's Day - Ends February 14th

Bitten by the Bug 2 - Valentine Hearts - Ends February 14th

DL Art - Pink, Red and Hearts - Ends February 24th

Die Cuttin' Divas - Love - Ends February 14th

Child Friendly Thanksgiving Place Setting

I originally created this project back in 2010 but wanted to share this with you as we draw near to Thanksgiving this week.  Plus I noticed that my original post referenced the instructions being in a newsletter that is no longer available.......

Of course I can't take credit for this idea as it was based on inspiration I received from Scrapbooks, etc magazine.  In the article it showed great ideas for setting the table for the holiday and one of those ideas was a paper pieced turkey as a crayon holder.  Immediately the lights went on and I thought what a great idea - now let's expand it and that's just what I did.  So without further delay here are the instructions......

Child Friendly Thanksgiving Table Setting
Supplies Needed:

8 count box of crayons
Rubber band & piece of string/ribbon
1 ½ sheets Fall themed paper
8 ½ x 11” sheet of white or off-white paper
Cricut ink pen
Design Studio or Gypsy

Cricut cartridges:  I used Thanksgiving, Create a Critter, A Child’s Year, PPDU and Animal Kingdom, TBBM

To Create Placemat:

1.       Using the guidelines provided in Design Studio or Gypsy place a variety of Thanksgiving related cuts on the mat staying within an 8” x 11” area.

2.       Replace the Cricut blade with one of the ink pens and print the images.  Ink edges.

3.       Cut a 12” square paper to 9 ½” x 12”.  Adhere the white page to printed page.  Ink edges.

To Create Personalized Silverware Pocket:

1.     From TBBM cut one of the tag pockets in blackout (and no hole) at 11 ½”.  See pages 112& 113 of the handbook.

2.     If your paper is not a double print place your paper print down on the mat before cutting.  This will keep your print on the outside of the pocket when folding and putting together.

3.     Create name tag by cutting a pumpkin from Create a Critter at 1 ¾”.  Hide the facial contours to allow for writing the child’s name on the tag.

4.       Adhere tag to pocket.

To Create Crayon Holder:

1.       Using Create a Critter cut the turkey and needed layers at 2 ½”.  Ink edges.

2.       Build the layers for your turkey EXCEPT for the very back tail piece.

3.       Prick two small holes in the center of the very back tail piece.  Tie rubber band to the tail.

4.       Adhere tail piece to the turkey to complete build.

5.       Add crayons by wrapping rubber band around them to hold them in place.

Note: Crayon holder was scraplifted from the December 2010 issue of Scrapbooks, etc.

Santa's Coming Gift Bag

So what do you do when you have a small gift that needs 'special' wrapping?  Why create your own wrapping of course!  And so for those small gifts that need giving I have created my gift bag with tag all in one.

For this project I used TBBM, Simply Charmed and a few scraps from my handy dandy scrap drawers.  (This my friends is why I never throw my scraps away.)

I cut the 'shopping bag' from TBBM stretching the cut so that it was 11 1/2" long and a little over 6" high.

My Santa and Chimney are from Simply Charmed. The chimney was cut at 4 3/4" and Santa was cut at 4".
To create the chimney I embossed the bricks and then inked over them with fire brick red distressed ink. The snow cut was covered with MS snow glitter.

To create Santa I embossed his beard/hair and flocked his hat and coat. The gift tag in his hand was cut from TBBM at 1" with the words "For You" printed on the tag.

Oh and wait, it gets better.  You ready for this?  I made this one so that Santa can "go down the chimney".....

All I did was pop dot the chimney to the front of the gift bag thus leaving room for Santa.  Pretty nifty 'eh?  lol

Wild Thing

Happy Friday everyone!  I have a quick and easy card to share with you today.  And yes, it is yet another Create a Critter 2 creation.

For this one I used that adorable lion that was available during the sneak peek week.  I cut him out at 2 1/2".  I also used Tags, Bags, Boxes and More for the tag, cutting two - one at 2" and one at 1 3/4".  (Looking back I do wish that I had used a larger font, but that's okay.)  After adhering the two tags together I added a piece of scrap ribbon.

My background paper is from DCWV's Animal Crackers and the brown strip is a piece of corrugated cardstock that I had in my stash.

Then on the inside I added the following sentiment, "If I was stranded on a desert island and could only take one thing, it'd be you."

See, told you it was easy.

Get Well Flowers

Who remembers when making these flower pot cards were all the rage about two years ago?  I loved these cards then and I still love them now.  I have so much fun making these little guys and whenever I give one away the recipient always smiles upon seeing their card.

With that said, who wouldn't want to put a smile on the face of someone who's under the weather and not feeling well?  Of course we all do and so today I'd like to share one of my "get well" flower arrangements.  For this card I used my trusty little DS cut file I created back in the day using:

George for the 'card' and flower pot
Mickey and Friends for the flowers
Accent Essentials for the leaves
Sesame Street Friends for the worm
TBBM for the flower tag
Pooh Font for the Get Well

To put this together I used pop dots on the flowers and this helps to situate them just right so they slide in and out of the pot properly without hiding the sentiment.  Add some buttons for the center of the flowers and a ribbon around the pot to hold it all together and viola! You have a unique floral arrangement to show that special someone you care.

If you have the cartridges mentioned above and still use DS like I do, you can download my cut file by going here and selecting the flowerpot - friend and get well file.

Happy Creating!

Valentine Goodie Bags

I found these Valentine cards like the kids use in school and thought to myself - "self, you have the Mickey cartridge at home and can do something with these".  So I snatched them up, came home and went to work.

I used Tags, Bags, Boxes and More for the goodie bag, cutting each bag at 6" so that I could cut two per piece of cardstock.  My Mickey and Minnie characters were cut at 1 1/2".  Now all I have to do is fill my bags (I made more than what's pictured) with the goodies and they're all done.

Tag, You're It!

Today's post is brought to you by Cricut Cardz Challenge #98 where today we present you with two different Christmas tags using any cartridges of our liking.  As you will see I chose several cartridges.  And you might also notice that one of my tags is a recreation of a tag originally created by Scrapping Mommy.  Truth by told these tags offered me that final push I needed to go ahead and buy the Winter Frolic cartridge, and I'm so glad I did.

All of that said, I created these two tags using:

Winter Frolic for the Christmas tree
Accent Essentials for the scalloped tag
Tags, Bags, Boxes and More for the snowman's tag
Gypsy Wanderings for the Snowman

Fishing You A Happy Birthday

I found a set of four sea life charms by Blue Moon at Walmart yesterday and instantly fell in love with them.  As soon as I saw them I knew that they would be perfect to use in tunnel cards and so I bought a set.

I started designing the card last night and just finished it this afternoon.  For this one I used:

George to cut the inside mat and ovals for creating my tunnel and frame.

Tags, Bags, Boxes and More for the tag on the front of the card.

Sweet Treats for the cake.

Life's a Beach for all other cuts.

Fall Into Reading

This week's Cricut Cardz Challenge #64 is not your usual card challenge.  This week we were asked to create a bookmark in honor of National Read Across America Week

I have to tell you that I had a lot of fun designing this bookmark and will definitely have to design and create more.  For this one though I used the following carts and cuts:

Tags, Bags, Boxes & More for the bookmark base - I skewed the size to 2 1/4" x 6 1/2"

Stretch Your Imagination for the tree cut at 2"

Graphically Speaking for the couple reading a book cut at 1"

Going Places for the Clouds - I cut the large one at 1" and then skewed the others to 1/4"

And now that you've seen my design for this week's challenge I hope that you'll take a trip to the blogs of the other ladies on the design team and check out their fabulous designs.  After you do that, create your own bookmark, link it to the challenge and let us see yours.

Butterflies & Thank You's

I know it's been a while since I've posted but I've been so busy (like many of you I'm sure) trying to get gifts finished for Christmas and last minute things done around the house in preparation for the children to come home from college.

That said, the card that I'm sharing today is a very quick make using one cut from TBBM for the tag and the cuttlebug for the butterfly.  I love the background paper that I used and the colors made me think of the beautiful colors on butterflies so I decided to combine the two.

Child Friendly Thanksgiving Place Setting

Last month I picked up a copy of Scrapbooks, etc and saw an article spotlighting a variety of fun ways to set the dinner table for Thanksgiving.  One of them used a paper pieced turkey as a crayon holder.  Well immediately the lights went on and I thought what a great idea - now let's expand it.  So off I went, dusting off my Cricut markers and pulling out cartridges to find images that would work for creating this project.

And now that the November edition of the Wildly Whimsical Crafing Loft Newsletter has been published I can share it with you.

For this project I used Thanksgiving, Create a Critter, A Child's Year, PPDU, TBBM and Animal Kingdom.  A list of other supplies used and complete instructions including cut sizes can be found in the newsletter.

Remember These?

I'm kinda of in a reminiscent frame of mind this week....creating (or should I say re-creating) cards that I made "back in the day".  Cards that everyone I've given them to has loved, but I quit making them and moved on to the next "fad".  Isn't it funny how we tend to do that with so many things in our lives?

Well tonight I give you an oldie but a goodie remade.  For this card I used:

George - welding a couple of shapes together to create the flowerpot itself which stands about 3 1/2" tall.  I also used George to create the shapes for the flower "tag".

Mickey and Friends for the flowers
Accent Essentials for the leaves (also embossed)
TBBM for the flower tag hanging from the ribbon
Sesame Street and Friends for the little worm
Graphically Speaking for the word "friend"

Snowman Gift Tags

Here's another little challenge for you.  This one is for the All Wrapped Up Challenge going on until Monday the 11th, and the 'directions' are to "create a paper crafted gift bag, tag, box, gift wrap, etc. that for the holiday season".  So I thought why not give this one a try as well (and there's still two more going on that I'm thinking about playing with).

For this one I re-created an old favorite using my Gypsy and the Gyspy Wanderings cart.  Yep the good ol' snowman soup tags.  This is always a fun classic for giveaways at Christmas time and the variations are endless see?

These others were created a while back using Doodlecharms, TBBM and I don't remember which of the Christmas carts.

And okay, I've only created three so far but I tell you they are endless...........

Frog in my Pocket - Gift Card Holder

I finally got another one of my long awaited assignments completed.  This one I had to change up just a tad bit though.  The original assignment was to make a "card made with the animal kingdom cartridge. Maybe the frog...but have the card attached to or part of a thin box (cut from tags, bags, boxes, and more)for a gift card to go in"

I tried making a matchbox from TBBM but after two attempts I gave up.  I don't know if it was just me or what but it seemed like both matchbox cuts were either for the top or the inside of the box and when used together just didn't match up.  (no pun intended)

After two failed attempts I opted to go for an envelope style holder.   Other than TBBM and Animal Kingdom I also used Old West for the pocket.

For the matching gift tag I used a 2" square punch.

Handful of Thanks

I recently saw the phrase "Thanks for lending a hand" somewhere (don't remember where now) and almost immediately this card design popped into my head. Initially I created it in hopes that it would be accepted for publication but it was not meant to be. But that's okay because now I can share it with all of you.

For this one I used

A Child's Year for the Hand and the inside "border"

Tags, Bags, Boxes and More for the tag

Old West for the Thank You

Pumpkin Poop Treat Cups

So tonight's project is one that I am doing for my daughter to hand out to her friends for Halloween this year. I was searching around the net one day for Halloween ideas since I've never been one to really decorate or make cards for the "holiday". But this year I decided to do something different and make some of the cutesy items (I'm just not into the gore). Anyhow, while searching around I came across a poem for Pumpkin Poop and knew that this would be the project for this year.

Fast forward, a couple days ago I showed my daughter four different pumpkin faces and asked which one she wanted? When she saw the one from Doodlecharms her face lit up in a big smile and she said that one. From there this project was created.

For this I used:

Tags, Bags, Boxes, and More for the nut cup - cut at 6"

Doodlecharms for the Pumpkin - cut at 3"

Tags, Bags, Boxes and More for the tags - reshaped to resemble candy corn and then cut at 2" and 1 3/4"

Snowman Soup - Double Pocket Fold Card

Here's another one of my card challenges. The assignment for this card which was from Diane:

Cart: Christmas Cheer

Cut: Candy Cane

Theme: Christmas (that was kinda obvious) I would love to see what you'd come up with using this cut. I've had a couple of ideas for it, but have never actually done anything with it.

I decided to try a new card fold technique that I've had flagged for some time now. It's featured in the resources/tutorials section of the splitcoaststampers website and is surprisingly easy to create.

Of course this card would be perfect to give away along with a Snowman decorated coffee mug filled with a pouch of cocoa, marshmallows and a peppermint stick!

Beautiful

Inspired by a picture I saw in Just Cards magazine this layout was a while in the making. I was drawn into the whole flower in the center as a focal point kind of thing. I had one flower that I knew I wanted to use because of its size and color. From there I tried several different "characters" and finally decided on this cute pup from the Paper Pups cartridge.

The scallop in the center of the flower is a chipboard piece.

The following cuts were used for this card:

Paper Pups: Pup - 3 " and the butterflies at 1"

Tags, Bags, Boxes & More: Tag at 1 1/4"

Home Decor - Beautiful at 1"

My background was embossed using the swirls folder. Because of the size I had to emboss from each end of the paper.

The inside sentiment says, "Beauty...is the shadow of God on the universe." - Gabriela Mistral, Desolacion

Sympathy & Butterflies

I needed a sympathy card for a co-worker this week and as I tried to decide what I was going to do for the layout I came across Okie's card challenge on the Cricut boards. This week she provided three different sketches and this card was inspired from her third sketch. I've never participated in one of the challenges but this one was fun and came just when I needed that nudge.

For this card I used Tags, Bags Boxes and More, Home Decor, and Accent Essentials.
