Christmas Decor House Project

This year I made a few of my Christmas presents and this is one that I did for my mom. Growing up I can only remember one time that we ever had a family picture taken and I wanted to capture that in a unique way for my mom.

My house was created off directions found at Scrapbooks, etc. but enlarged to suit my needs. By that I mean that my house stands over a foot tall and about 7 inches wide and it's made from foam core board.

For the inside of my house I used a 4x6 picture which was framed using Accent Essentials.

The word "memories" is from Home Decor and cut at 1" tall

My fireplace was cut from Joys of the Season at 4.25". I then traced the outline on a piece of foam core board, cut it out, adhered the fireplace layers and then adhered that to the back wall of the house.

My stockings are cut from Christmas Noel, Joys of the Season and Christmas Cheer - all at 1".

The candle on the fireplace is from Christmas Noel - cut at 1"

My puppy is from Sweethearts and is cut at 2"

My Christmas tree is my first attempt ever at creating a ribbon tree. Howeve, I cut the styrofoam cone in half so that I could set the tree flush on the wall so as not to take up all the floor space.

Pahl is my maiden name and is cut from Winter Woodland.

The snowy eaves are from Winter Woodland and were cut to fit the roof size needed. I then ran them through my Xyron and applied MS snow glitters.

Free Standing Family Tree

I created this family tree to go along with my "Rouse House" that I made back in April. The inspiration for the project came about when I was browsing through a catalog and saw a wood kit for creating one. As soon as I saw it though I thought I can make one of those.....so away I went - creating my own family tree.

This one was created using foam core board and grungeboard for the picture frames.

If you would like a copy of the cut file and/or tutorial please see the tutorials tab.

Sliding Door Layout - Whatever!

This is another project that was inspired by Flip, Spin and Play - only this time there were directions that I changed up a little bit.

Once again foam core was the basis for this project and I love the possibilities that come from utilizing this medium. Other than that I used two cuts from Graphically Speaking, some paper, a dowel, glue and tape to put it all together.

Valentine's Day Card

For this card I cut two pieces of foam core board 9" x 9" and covered them with a sheet of the light green paper that can be found in the pastel pack of 12x24 Cricut papers. I then cut a piece of the "Love Collage" paper by Michelle Shefveland Designs to 8.5" x 8.5", rounded the corners, and used it as an accent paper on the inside of the card pages.

To join the two pieces together I took one of the left over cuts and cut it down to 3" x 8.5", rounded the corners, scored down the middle and adhered to the center of the pages.

For the cover I used Graphically Speaking cutting the Love U pieces at 5" and the lips from Indie Art cut at 2" and coated in glitter.

Since I am not that great at putting my feelings on paper I found several verses from cards that I liked and I just changed them all up to say what I wanted and in the order I wanted.

Rouse House

This was inspired by the January issue of Scrapbooks, etc. magazine which spotlighted a project for making a 'house' out of foam core board. So I spent part of my day today scraplifting this project and turning it into one of my own. The original directions can be found on the Scrapbooks, etc. website.

For my house I did not have access to a copy machine in order to enlarge the templates. However, I enlarged the pdf file to 125% and set my print options to print on borderless paper. Once printed I then measured the diagrams and drew them out on the foam core board for cutting.
I also used the following carts:
Accent Essentials for the picture frames (Accent 47 at 1.5"), rug (Accent 5 stretched to measure approx. 3"x4"), and the trim on the roof (4" and 4.5")
Happily Ever After for the chair (2.5" cut twice - one in blackout and one layer - for the back of chair and pieces. The pieces were then glued to other paper and cut to include 'tabs' for creating the dimension)
Paper Pups for the puppy cut at 1"
Making the Grade for the Rouse verbiage - R cut at 1" and the "ouse" were welded together to create the size needed.
The book on the chair was a piece of foam core board cut and covered with scrap paper.
