Rush Delivery

Happy Wednesday everyone.  I have a funny little birthday card that I'd like to share with you today.  I created a different version with this same theme a couple years back but I think this version is so much cuter.

For my card today I used:

  • Marjorie Ann Designs' When I Grow Up - Aviator - for the helicopter on the outside and the clipart on the inside of my card
  • Hello Kitty for the presents - both of which I did using the print 'n cut feature.  I tried to cut and layer first but because of the size my machine didn't like my paper and tore it to shreds.
  • For my font, Cricut Design Space labeled it as "3 Birds Life's a Party"
And here is what the inside of my card looks like

You Are My Sunshine

I haven't played along in a BBTB2 challenge in quite some time and decided that the current sun challenge would be a good one to get my feet wet again.

For this card I used the Hello Kitty cartridge to cut my sun shaped card.  The front is supposed to have a smiley face in the center but using the contour feature I did away with the smiley because I wanted a solid cover for which to place the stamps I used.  Both stamps are from the Lil Bit Buggy stamp set by Craftin' Desert Divas.  As you can probably tell it's been quite some time since I've colored.  I have a mild case of carpal tunnel but holding pens/pencils is often difficult and my handwriting and such suffers.  Plus the only coloring instruments I currently have in the house are colored pencils. With time and better coloring tools it can only get better, right?  Besides we don't want to waste these wonderful stamps.

For the inside of my card I used the you are my sunshine phrase from Wild Cards 2.  I just thought this was a perfect way to follow up the stamped sentiment - especially with my card being a sun shape.

And now with that I am off to go enter my card in to the challenge before it ends on Sunday.

Berry Thank You

It's time for another Skittles challenge over at DoubleClick Connections.  I hope you're as excited as I am for this challenge.  This time it's all about something juicy - fruit.  Yep, it's that simple.  Create a project that features fruit and you're golden.

For my project I chose to use this great strawberry shaped card from the Hello Kitty Cricut cartridge. To add some texture to the card I chose to emboss the berry portion.  Then I added a couple of the Grinch Green skittles at the top of the stem.

On the inside of my card I wanted to add a stamped sentiment so I cut a shadow of the strawberry just a tad bit smaller than the card.  I removed the stem and then inked with some red color.

The sentiment is actually from two different stamp sets:

Count Your Blessings from Card TV Stamps and Say it Big from Craftin' Desert Divas

And now that you've seen my take on this challenge be sure to check out the other wonderful designs our team created for you.  Then after you've been amply inspired, create your own project and link up with us for your chance to win a set of skittles.  You have until September 2nd to play along.

Happy Graduation

I had a few leftovers from my daughter's graduation cards that I made a couple weeks ago so I decided not to waste. ......

Yep, all I changed was the you're invited to Happy Graduation using the Graduation cartridge and now it's the perfect card to give to a graduate.  Best thing about this card is that the colors are those of my local high school as well as FSU so I won't have any problems finding someone to give this one too.

The inside sentiment says - Now - go confidently in the direction of your dreams.  ~ Henry David Thoreau

College Graduation Announcements

Sorry that I've been so quiet lately.  Things have been beyond crazy over here with getting ready for an upcoming graduation and a couple of craft shows.  We just tried our first time at the Oktoberfest and were pleased with the turnout.  Needless to say we'll do that show again next year.  But now it's all about getting ready for the big one next month.

All of that said, I completed the first half of my daughter's graduation announcements for this December.  We worked together to come up with a design and she decided on the verbiage.  This is the final result.  I posted them up on FB the other day and quite a few people loved the way they turned out  my daughter included....and that is of course a good thing.  lol

For these announcements I used:

Accent Essentials for the maroon & gold mats

Hello Kitty for the diploma

Locker Talk for the graduation cap; and

Thanksgiving for the "you're invited"

Thank You

Today is the final challenge over at Moxie Fab World and today's challenge was Thank You.  So this is my entry for the Card Creations: Favorite Occasions Week Thank You Challenge in the Moxie Fab World .

Just another very simple card in the midst of a busy week.

I used Robotz for the font and Hello Kitty for the flower.

Hello Kitty Christmas Card

Can you believe that this week marks the 50th challenge for Cricut Cardz?  Wow!  It seems like yesterday that Mary started all the fun.......And this week the fun continues.  Our challenge for this week was to create a Christmas card using any card feature and colors we chose.  For some reason my brain just froze up this week and none of the card features screamed out at me..............until I remembered Hello Kitty.

I can't even remember the last time that I used this cartridge, but I can tell you that it's been far too long.  I even forgot just how cute the cuts are on this cartridge.  Like this one of Hello Kitty bundled up in her warm winter jacket and hat with those adorable reindeer antlers.

For my card I cut Kitty out at 5" and then flocked all cuts with the exception of her face, hands, feet and ears.  When flocking her hair bow I added in a touch of glitter to give it a little bling.

Now it's your turn to play along.  So get your creative juices flowing, create your card and link it up for your chance to win the November challenge.  And be sure to check out the other great cards from our Design Team members.

Graduation Announcements

I have finally completed the order I had for graduation announcements.  Fortunately it was for a family member so that allowed me a little extra time.  By the time all was said and done though I created three different style cards.

The school bus card was made using Doodlecharms for the bus cut at 4", Every day paperdolls for the heads and graduation caps cut at 2", and Mickey Font for the school's acronym welded and cut at 3/4".

The Hello kitty card was made using only Hello Kitty cut at 4".

The time card was made using Graphically Speaking for the clock face and the word time.  I'm sorry but I don't remember the sizes I used for this one.

Angel's Wings

I missed last weeks Cricut Cardz Challenge but now that I've had some time to breathe I wanted to make sure that I caught up. So for my take on the challenge I chose to use one of the card features from the Hello Kitty Cart.

Very simply put I cut this card at 3 1/4" that way it would fit to a 12" piece of paper. On the inside I used the "I love you" cut from Hello Kitty as well.

Easy Peasy.

Hello Kitty Halloween - Card Challenge #12

Tonight's card is based on my homework assignment courtesy of missychan:

"Cart: Hello Kitty

Cut: "Pick your kind" as my DD says

Project: A card

HK is my DD's favorite... and I'm running out of ideas, so maybe I can scrap lift yours when it's finished?"

For the pumpkin, I cut one of the shapes from grungeboard, glued it to the background piece, poured in a little green and gold glitter, covered with transparency and then glued on the top pumpkin shape cut from orange cardstock.

My grass is from PPDU. The colors didn't come through too well thanks to the gloss of Kitty's costume but that's okay.

And for those of you that are keeping score - here's my hint on the next card: it's a real puzzler.......

Quick Hello Kitty Get Well Card

My oldest daughter (who attends college in GA) had surgery today and this was a quick card that I put together for her. The teddy bear is a clip art that I printed twice and pop dotted for a little dimension.

The inside sentiment says, "Hurrying get well wishes for a speedy recovery".

Rush Delivery - Birthday

Mom's birthday is today and I had to create something whimsical as being mushy just isn't always mom's style. If you met her you'd love her - she is such a riot.

So anyhow, this card was made using

Mickey & Friends - plane cut at 3"

Hello Kity - gift cut at 1 1/2"

The font is Beach Type downloaded from dafont.com

The inside of the card says "Addressee is getting old fast"

Hello Kitty Graduation Pop Up Card

My oldest daughter is getting ready to gradute in a couple weeks from the community college she's been attending in Brunswick, GA and has been accepted to Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah. Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the ceremony as my other daughter is in exams with her honors classes here at home. So I wanted to create a special card and set about last night on the design and cutting and finished putting it all together this morning.
For this card I used the following cuts:

Hello Kitty & cap - 4" (outfit cut to be in the school colors)

Hello Kitty in car - 3 1/2"

Tree from Camp Out - 4 3/4"

Sun from Pooh & Friends - 1 1/2"
Pennant from Locker Talk - 1 3/4" (cut to be in the school colors)

The road was created simply by cutting a stip of black paper the length of the card and then notching to fit around the pop up pieces so that it would slide in to the center of the card for placement.

The Way I See It....Hello Kitty Pop Up

This is a card that was designed around the quote after I found it the other day. I kept trying to envision a card for the quote and this one just came to me last night as I was getting ready for bed. The only thing that I'm not too sure about is the size of the rainbow. Other than that I love it.

The rain puddles were cut from Graphically Speaking and then flocked for texture.

Scrapping Real Life Events

This week I had to have out patient surgery and while I was sitting in the recovery room trying to escape the grip of anesthesia I told my husband that it was a shame we didn't have a camera so that I could scrap the event. So my husband being the smart man that he is whipped out his cell phone and began clicking away.

At first I wasn't really sure what to do. I mean how do you scrap something that isn't cutesy or fun? Seriously? I had no idea where to start and then I remembered seeing a Hello Kitty cut with her in the bed. "Okay" I thought "this is a start". After all there were pics of me lying in the bed.

But then as I started putting the Kitty cuts together I kept looking at the pictures I chose and started thinking about how I needed some kind of paper underneath them to help soften the look. Then it hit me. The file folder cut on Graphically Speaking - I could use that. So then I got to thinking about how I could do my journaling on the inside of the folder. And then it hit me again. I could scan in all the discharge paperwork I was given and tack it to the inside of the folders just like a mini medical file. Then my page could serve a dual purpose of recording the facts as well as the story.

Get Well Card

Here's another one that I did yesterday. Again very simple - unless you consider the layering of colors in the silhouette and then having to trim around to get it all just right. While not a difficult task was a little time consuming, but worth the effort.

The balloon is from Hello Kitty. I just cut the 'tail' off of it and used embroidery floss to make it look a little more 'real'. I also pop dotted it to add a little dimension to the card.

Flying By......

Dh bought me the new Hello Kitty cartridge for Valentine's Day so tonight I decided to sit down and play around with it. After looking through the booklet and the various card sentiments that I have collected I knew exactly what I wanted to do first.

For this card I cut the image at 3 3/4", inked the edges and put it all together.

The inside sentiment says "...to say HI"
