Just Pigcause....

I have a fun little card I'd like to share with you today.  Originally the file I chose to use was created for a child's 4th birthday, but I loved this little piggy so much that I had to have him for something else.

For this card I used the pig from the Party Animal 4th Birthday file over at Marjorie Ann Designs.  My mud spot is from the Mud Run file by Little Scraps of Heaven Designs, but I suppose you could use anything else that looks like a mud spot.  The two little flies are from the Cricut cartridge Campin' Critters.

The stamped sentiment is from the stamp set by Craftin Desert Divas titled Just Pigcause.  I also used this set to stamp a cute little pig on the inside of my card.

Extremely basic I know.  But I don't have markers or anything with which to color.  Even if I did I'm not so sure I'd be brave enough to give it a try though.  Besides this little piggy is cute - colored in or not.  :)

Happy Camper

Once again I had a little bit of crafting time before we get started back on our remodeling project.  Today we need to finish laying the new floor.  Yesterday we tore it up all the way down to the floor joists and that was a lot of work.  I even had to crawl up underneath to install new installation because the crawl space was too small for my husband to fit into.  Fortunately this week will be easier as all that will be left is putting up new walls and framing out the closet.  (We didn't like where the closet was originally located.  It blocked some of the sunlight from the windows.)

But I digress.  This post isn't about our remodeling, but about the project I finished this morning.  I had originally intended for this wonderful little picnic basket to be a part of a going away gift I was making for someone.  However, things weren't turning out as I had hoped and my friend moved her leave date up a bit.  That's okay though.  I just did something all together different for her and now I'll have this for something else later.

I found this cute basket over at My Scrap Chick and the Happy Camper card is from the Cricut cartridge Camping Critters.  The stamped sentiments on my chocolates are from two different Jaded Blossom stamp sets:  Hello Candies and the new set, BFF Candies.

Of course who wouldn't be a Happy Camper when they're receiving a basket full of yummy chocolate?  This would even make a great little treat box kit for some s'mores.  I just didn't happen to have the items needed on hand so I stuck with plain ol' Hershey kisses.

And now that you've seen my project I'm running off to enter it into the following challenges:

Camping challenge over at Fantabulous Cricut Challenge - Ends 8/24

Food Fun challenge over at Scrappy Moms Stamps - Ends 8/25

Then it's back to work.......

UPDATE:  This project was chosen as a top 5 design team pick over at Fantabulous Cricut Challenge.

Hello Sunshine

Happy Wednesday fellow bloggers!  Today's project is brought to you by the Tag Your It challenge going on over at Cardz TV.  For this challenge our directive was to create a card with a tag or tags and any cartridges we desired.  So I thought why not make the shape of my card the tag?

Now I could have used Tags, Bags, Boxes and More for the cut but since I wanted to showcase this cute ray of sunshine from Campin Critters and the badges on there are shaped like some of the tags from TBBM why not just use the same cartridge?  Sounds fair, right?  Well that's what I chose to do and it helped to create this cute lil' card in no time.

And now that you've seen my take on this week's challenge pop over to Cardz TV and check out all the other fantastic designs our team created for you this week.  Then after you've been amply inspired, create your own card and link up for a chance to win.....

Sunsets

Happy Friday everyone.  I am excited to announce that I have been chose to participate with yet another great Design Team.  This one is the Pause Dream Enjoy Team, and just as with the other two teams that I am a part of you won't want to miss any of the upcoming challenges.

This week our challenge over at PDE was to create a project with Sunset as the theme using either the colors of a sunset or a sunset itself as the focal point.  So when was the last time you watched the sun set (or rise for that matter)?  I used to watch it rise every morning on the drive in to work but now that I work closer to home I have not watched it rise in a while.  Watching it set though is another story and seeing the sun set over the Gulf of Mexico (or even the bay) is a breathtaking moment with all the beauty and splendor that is displayed before your eyes.

So all of that said, I wanted to try to capture at least some of that awe in my card.  So I created layers of sunset colors as my background.

To do this I cut 1" scalloped borders from Accent Essentials.  I think inked along the scallops and laid them out in what I felt was the best color pattern for a sunset scheme.  I then used A Child's Year and Campin Critters to create my silhouette shapes.

And now that you've seen my creation hop on over to Pause Dream Enjoy and check out the other fabulous designs that our team created.  Then after you have been amply inspired, create your own sunset project and link up for your chance to win a $5 gift certificate to Ginger Snap Scraps.  You have until Thursday, July 12th to submit your project - I look forward to see what you come up with.

Gone Fishing - Manly Card for any Occasion

I was thumbing through some of my old magazines the other night and came across a "boys" card in an issue of Your Complete Guide to Cardmaking that I really liked.  So this is my interpretation/remake of that card.

I used:

Campin' Critters for the fishing deer cut at 3 1/2".  His main coat was flocked with a MS brown colored flocking powder.

George was used for the block shapes cut at 1" squares and a 3 1/2" rectangle.

Quick, easy and I like that the end results provide me with the ability to use this card for several different "manly" occasions including birthday, Father's Day, get well, and retirement.

Gone Fishing Clock

I've had this clock sitting in my craft room for months now - just waiting for the perfect idea.  Well this week I saw a post on the Cricut MB that sparked the inspiration for this clock.

I really LOVE the way that this one turned out.  I used Campin Critters for all of my cuts, and the paper is Great Outdoors mat stack from atd.

What do ya think?  Don't ya just love altered items?

Milk Carton Treat Container

I wanted to try something new and different as a treat holder and this is my take off from the sour cream containers.  For whatever reason I have never been able to really put those silly things together well enough.  Maybe because I always wanted to fill them too much?  I don't know.....but this is easier for me because I know when it's so full I can't add any more.  ;o)

I created the milk carton cut using Design Studio and George so if you have both of those and would like the cut file you'll find it under my files and tutorials tab.  I also have the instructions ready for dowload as well in case you need them.

Since this was my first go round as a trial I didn't really embellish my container too much but I still think it turned out really cute.  My bear is from Campin' Critters and my little fish is just a brad from my stash.

Hope you enjoy and if you happen to create one of these containers I'd love to see what you did with it so please let me know so I can hop over to your blog and take a look.

Forest Friends Pop up Birthday Surprise

I made this card for my mom whose birthday is today.

For the outside of the card I used Campin Critters.  I cut the forest at 4 1/2". Cut the forest "floor" a second time out of sandpaper and embossed the tree tops.  The critters behind the trees were cut at 1" using the layers from those cuts and the fox was cut at 1 1/2".  I pop dotted the call out, little tree and the fox to add dimension.

The inside pop up was made using a now retired Sizzix die but it would be very easy to create this cut using your cricut if you have Design Studio or the Gypsy.  My critters on the inside were cut at 1 and 1 1/2".  The call out was created using two different ones from campin' critters welded together.  The song notes are from a punch (forgot to add those until everyone had signed the card - oops) and the embossed greeting is from a Sizzix folder.

You're Such A Stinker

As soon as I received the new Campin' Critters cartridge I knew that I wanted to use this adorable skunk cut.  I cut him out at 3" and the little frog I cut at 1".

On the inside of my card it says "...thank you for your kindness".

Just a Note

I love, love, love the new Campin Critters cartridge.  If you haven't checked out yet you should - especially if you love the Create A Critter cartridge.  When I first saw this one I knew I was going to have to get my hands on it as soon as I could afford to do so and when I found it cheap on ebay it was mine.  lol

So this is the first card I made using this great cartridge.  Isn't he just one of the cutest birds you've seen???  For this card I not only used the new Campin Critters, but also

Accent Essentials for the inside scallop

Wild Card for the sentiment (combined with George for the ...)
