The Measure Of A Man.....

Today I'd like to share another card I using one of the sentiments from the You're the Man stamp set.  The Cardz TV design team featured this stamp set during a two day blog hop this past weekend and if you haven't checked it out yet you really should.  Father's Day is quickly approaching and this set is full of endless possibilities!

For this particular card I used the cricut cartridge Handyman.  The background paper is titled Fixer Upper from the Moxie Do It Yourself line.  Isn't it just perfect for this cut and sentiment?

The inside sentiment for this card reads:

...is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good.  ~ Samuel Johnson

Mr. Fix It, You're the Man...

....and we're having a You're the Man blog hop over at Cardz TV.  Mary has divided our team up into two teams for this fun blog hop so if you missed out on yesterday's hopping around be sure to head over to Cardz TV so you can catch up on the fun you missed.

Before you go though I'd like to share with you the card that I made for today's blog hop round.  For this handy dandy little card I used the Handyman cartridge.  After finding this background paper in my stash I knew that a set of tool cuts would be perfect AND to make things even better this wonderful stamped pharse was one of the ones from the You're the Man stamp set that we are showcasing for the hop.  How much better can things get?

And now that you've seen my card be sure that you hop around at the other stops we have for you today.  Be sure to check them all out because I understand that there some blog candy to be found somewhere along the way beginning with two sets of stamps that Mary's giving away on her blog.  Just be sure to follow the rules that each blogger has posted for how you can win.

That said, your next stop on the hop is Dana.  Or if you'd like to start from the beginning here's our line-up:

Buttons, Buttons, Buttons

Happy Friday everyone!  I am thrilled to announce that I have been invited to be a part of the Cardz TV Design Team and today is my first challenge as part of the team.   This week our challenge was to create a card and incorporate buttons.  At first I kind of scratched my head trying to figure out something I could do that I hadn't done yet.  It took a bit but I finally came up with this card.

My Palm Tree is a cut made using my Sizzix and the lizard is from the new Southwest cartridge.  I used sand paper for my beach to add a bit of texture to the card and as you can see my buttons are sitting up in the tree.

The stamp I chose for my card is from the Cardz TV "Simply Said" set.

And now that you've seen my take on this week's challenge hop on over and check out all of the other wonderful designs our team put together for you this week......you know you wanna.

When you're done oohing and aahing, create your own card, link up and play along with us.

I look forward to see what you create.

A Special Kind of Friendship

Happy Monday everyone.  I trust that despite being taxes due day everyone will be able to find some kind of enjoyment out of the day - especially since we're celebrating friendships at Pause Dream Enjoy today.  The challenge is very simple.  Just create a card, layout or project celebrating friendship.

For my card I chose to showcase the special friendship between Ernie and his long time pal, Rubber Duckey.

To create my card I cut 1" squares using a paper trimmer for my tiles and then glued them to the card to simulate a tiled wall. The bathtub was cut at 4" from New Arrival.
The "bubbles" were cut by merging circles from George together and then sized to be proportionate with the bathtub. They were then cut from vellum and embossed in the Cuttlebug and ran through the Xyron for adhering.
Ernie was cut at 3" with only the top half of the cut being used. In order to have his body rather than the sweater show I cut one of the solid base cuts and then cut out the section that I needed for the body.
The inside sentiment on my card are lyrics from the Sesame Street song D-U-C-K-I-E:
D means you're delightful and delicious and so dear
U says I'm undone by what you do
C is for the cute way that you squeak into my ear
K is for the kick I get from you
I, I'll be there if you're in hot water
E you're extra-special to the end
Put them altogether, they spell DU-UUU-CKIE
Rubber duckie, I'm so lucky you're my friend

And now that you've seen my project be sure to check the other wonderful designs our team put together for you this week.  Then create your own project and link up for a chance to win this week's prize.......sponsored by TSQ Royal Castle Shoppe.

Butterfly Pop Up

A couple of years ago Sizzix came out with this really nice looking scalloped pop-up die.  However, I didn't want to spend the money on this particular die so I took the Cricut challenge to see if I could recreate it.  Surprisingly enough I was successful and this is the first card I made using this pop-up.

To create the pop-up design I used:
  •  Accent Essentials for the scalloped circle cut at 6"
  • George for the placement of cuts to create the pop outs/ups

For the other cuts on my card I used:
Home Decor for my flourishes (coming off the top and bottom of the scallop)
April Showers for the other butterflies, trees, worm and spring banner
I even decided to break out my Cuttlebug for this one and used the Cuttlebug for the blue and green butterflies - I have the cut and emboss butterfly set
