Rush Delivery

Happy Wednesday everyone.  I have a funny little birthday card that I'd like to share with you today.  I created a different version with this same theme a couple years back but I think this version is so much cuter.

For my card today I used:

  • Marjorie Ann Designs' When I Grow Up - Aviator - for the helicopter on the outside and the clipart on the inside of my card
  • Hello Kitty for the presents - both of which I did using the print 'n cut feature.  I tried to cut and layer first but because of the size my machine didn't like my paper and tore it to shreds.
  • For my font, Cricut Design Space labeled it as "3 Birds Life's a Party"
And here is what the inside of my card looks like

Happy Birthday Birdie

I thought I would start the week off with a birthday card.  There's just something about a celebration that makes everything better.

For today's card I used the 3 Birds on Parade cartridge - cut at 3 1/2 inches.  I painted and glittered up the cupcake frosting to add a bit of bling and texture.  Then when I was all done I placed my bird on an action wobble to add some interaction to the card.

My background paper is from Heidi Grace Designs and it's a double sided paper (although I didn't use the backside).  It's called It's My Party/Cake.  Isn't it a beautiful paper?  I almost hated to use it.

The stamped sentiment is from the Cardz TV Stamps set titled Good Times.

And now I'm off to enter this card into the following challenges:

Cardz TV - Feminine Birthday - Ends August 14th

You're My Super Hero - Birdie Challenge

Happy Friday.  I don't know about you but I looking forward to a three day weekend!

Today's card is brought to you by Pause Dream Enjoy Challenges where this week our directive was to use either a chickie or birdie on our card.  And as you can tell I opted for not just any birdie but 'super' birdie.  I was going through my paper stash the other day and came across this Marvel Comics paper I snatched up when it was clearanced at Michaels.  Then I found this great bird cut on the 3 Birds on Parade cartridge and knew that I had to make this card.

The cuts for the inside are also from the 3 Birds on Parade cartridge but the paper here is from the All About Boys mat stack.  The little added stars were used primarily to cover up a point in the star that wasn't pointed (don't you love it when a 'mistake' gives you a reason to up your game).  In the end I think that the added stars provide just the right bling.

So now that you've seen my take on this week's challenge hop on over to Pause Dream Enjoy and check out all the other great designs our team has created for you today.  Then create your own project, link up and play along with us for your chance to win a $5 gift certificate from this week's sponser Clear Dollar Stamps.

Just 4 You

My daughter's birthday is this week and I sit here wondering where the time has gone.  Twenty two years seems like a long time but it has seriously gone so quickly that even I don't know what to think.  Growing up I used to tell her (and all the ones thereafter) that I was going to put a brick on her head to keep her from growing.  Of course back then they all thought that was funny and even now it will elicit a little giggle from her.

Now I realize this card I've put together for her is a little "childish".  I know this.  However, the one I had in my head that I spent hours on this morning before and after church ended up in the circular file.  Why you ask?  Well it was a glorious three tier pop-up cake.....my first one ever.....and much like my real life baking skills it flopped. I won't bore you with the details but I will say I tried to salvage it and the more I tried the worse it got so I had to give it up.

For this card though I used:

3 Birds on Parade - the bird originally had a cupcake in its hand which I removed so it could hold the balloon

Create a Critter for the font - I cut away the balloon "string" and replaced it with memory wire

You're the Hip to My Hop

As I work on finishing the set up of my new crafting space I have another quick and easy card that I'd like to share with you this morning.

For this one I used the 3 Birds on Parade cartridge.  I always forget just how many cute little cuts there are on this cartridge and every time I pull it off the shelf I fall in love all over again.

The background paper is from the Tim Holtz Seasonal mat stack and is the perfect touch to finish off this Easter card.

A Mother Is....

Happy Friday everyone.  I don't know about you guys but we're expecting more rain again today.  Thank goodness I had nothing other than work in the game plan today.  lol  But they say the weekend is supposed to be nice so that means I should be able to get some more painting done in the old - new craft room I'm moving back into.  If all goes well I can start putting it all back together late Sunday or Monday.

In the meantime, I wanted to share a Mother's  Day card I made with you.  This is yet another of my quick, easy cards.  I used one cartridge, and one cartridge only - 3 Birds on Parade.

I thought this cut worked perfectly with this paper I found in my stash.  What do you think?

Oh and as for the sentiment.....on the inside it says "...someone you never outgrow.  Happy Mother's Day"

New Pages for Baby Album

As I get closer to my first craft show of the season I decided to get a few onesie albums made up and I thought I'd add some new items to the pages this go round.  I changed up the way I did the covers by adding in some embellishments.  I love the way that they look and think it's more inviting than just having the words on the cover.

Other new additions include a couple of pages with the baby birds from the 3 birds on parade cartridge.  You'll see them here along with some of the other pages I've made.

I also added in some new journaling tags.

But this one is  my favorite.  I got this idea while shopping around on Scrapbook.com and decided to try my hand at creating my own journaling strips.

I used Wild Card for my pocket and A Child's Year for the crawling baby. The journal strips were created in Microsoft Word and to hold them in the pocket I added the little foot paper clip.  If you like this page and would like to make some of your own you can download the cut file as well as the strips file by clicking on the  link for the tutorials page on the right hand side.

So what do you think?  Do you have any ideas for what you'd like to see in a baby album?  Have you made one that you'd like share?  Drop a line and let me know.

Across the Miles

My poor dh is working a long day today so I've been hiding in my craft room putting together this card.  For this one I used:

3 Birds on Parade cut at 1 7/8"
Sweethearts for the stamps one cut at 5" with all contours hidden except the lines along the edges and the other cut at 4" in blackout

I also used my new Sizzix postcard embossing folder and inked on the embossing with distressed ink in tea dye to help bring it out.

The inside sentiment says, though mioles may lie between us, we're never far apart, for friendship doesn't count the miles, it's measured by the heart.  And just underneath that I printed a clip art heart.
