Sympathy Cards

This past Saturday was a difficult day for our family as we suffered not one, but two deaths in the family just hours apart from each other.

If you're like me sympathy cards are always the hardest cards to make and definitely not something I keep on hand.  As I sat down to create these two I was even surprised to find that for the 100+ stamp sets I have only one had phrases that were sympathy in nature - Simply Said by Craftin Desert Divas.

My first card, the Sunset Card, is from My Scrap Chic.  I love the simplistic beauty and peacefulness that this card brings.  To add to it I used a couple of different embossing folders from my stash and then finished it off by using purple twilight colored skittles from DoubleClick Connections.

The second card is a Lori Whitlock Card Flower Kit from the Silhouette Design Store.  This one you'd think would be easy to put together but I was back and forth so many times trying to decide what papers I wanted to use.  In the end I chose several papers from the SEI New Day and Desert Springs collections.   On this one I decided to use an orange skittle to help the center of the flower pop.

And now I'm not even sure how to end my post.  I think I've re-written it about 4 or 5 times now.  So I'll just end it by saying thanks for stopping by.....

Jaded Blossom Release - Day 3

Who's ready for a peek at day three of the Jaded Blossom stamp release?  Today we have two fun stamp sets being spotlighted - Happy Hello and Paisley.

For my project today I used the Happy Hello stamp set.

When I saw this cool emoji treat bag I thought it would be fun to stamp sentiments on the sunglasses so that's exactly what I did.  This is from My Scrap Chick and is called Cool Emoji Party Box.

Here's a look at the Happy Hello and Paisley stamp sets.

Easter Cross

Today I have a quick and easy card to share with you.  I've never made a lot of Easter projects but this year I made several items and enjoyed them all.  For today's card I used the Cross of Easter card from My Scrap Chick.  However, since I have a pack of card bases I didn't have a need to use the one in this file.

For the stamped sentiment I used the Easter Blessings stamp set from Cardz TV Stamps.

My microscope treat tube holder is a cutting file that I purchased from SVG Cutting Files.

The card is one that I scraplifted from Luv Scrapping Together.  I first saw this cute scientist on pintrest and fell in love with him.  He's created using a couple of different files from My Scrap Chick.

Thanks so much for checking out my project! Make sure to go back to the Jaded Blossom Blog to see who is next in the line up!

Eat, Drink and Be Scary

Today begins another fun challenge over at PDE Linky Party and this week the challenge is Halloween Decorations.  That means the sky is the limit so long as you're decorating for Halloween.....

For my Halloween decoration I made a treat box that was inspired by this one I found on Pintrest.  It was made using two different files from My Scrap Chick (pumpkin box and Halloween treat bag toppers).  As you can see I embossed his hair, brows and mustache to add a bit of texture.

I then used several of the stamps from Peachy Keen set PKSC-32 which was part of the August release this year.

Now that you've seen my take on this week's challenge be sure to check all of the other wonderful designs our team has created for you.  Then create your own decorations, link up and play along with us.  I can't wait to see what you create.

Remember, the challenge ends Monday, October 27th.

And now I am off to enter this in to the following challenge:

Embossing - Hiding in My Craft Room - Ends Saturday, October 25th

Harvest and Halloween - My Scrap Chick

Haunted Mansion - Red Carpet Studios - Ends November 1st

Terror-ific

So before I begin my post I'm going to admit that I did not create a handmade card or gift for Boss's Day today.  It had actually slipped my mind that that was this week so I ended up purchasing my card and gift.  However, I will be giving my boss one of the treat holders that I have created and shared with you this week.

Speaking of treats, I have one last one to share with  you for this week.  Although it's actually a treat topper and not a holder.  I found these cute little baggies of vampire teeth and 'blood' at the dollar store and thought they would be cute with this Dracula treat bag topper from My Scrap Chick.

I took one of the baggies apart and re-packaged it so that you could better see the teeth and 'blood' bag.  As you can see with the other two packages the manufacturer sealed them in the packages backward.  Who cares, right?  Well of course we do when we're crafting with them.  lol

I painted up Dracula's fangs with some red smooch.  You can probably tell that I was not precise with the coloring and that was on purpose.  After all if you have blood on your fangs it's not like it's going to be neat and in the lines.  I also used a bit of black enamel accents for the knot on the bow ties.

After putting it all together I pondered how I could add a sentiment to the topper and this is what I came up with.  I just stamped this wonderful sentiment from Craftin Desert Divas Ghostly Greetings stamp set. I then hand cut my flag and adhered it to the corner of Dracula's head.

Now I'm going to go enter this in the following challenges:

Harvest and Halloween challenge - My Scrap Chick - ends October 27th

Halloween - Craftin Desert Divas - ends October 26th

Happy Camper

Once again I had a little bit of crafting time before we get started back on our remodeling project.  Today we need to finish laying the new floor.  Yesterday we tore it up all the way down to the floor joists and that was a lot of work.  I even had to crawl up underneath to install new installation because the crawl space was too small for my husband to fit into.  Fortunately this week will be easier as all that will be left is putting up new walls and framing out the closet.  (We didn't like where the closet was originally located.  It blocked some of the sunlight from the windows.)

But I digress.  This post isn't about our remodeling, but about the project I finished this morning.  I had originally intended for this wonderful little picnic basket to be a part of a going away gift I was making for someone.  However, things weren't turning out as I had hoped and my friend moved her leave date up a bit.  That's okay though.  I just did something all together different for her and now I'll have this for something else later.

I found this cute basket over at My Scrap Chick and the Happy Camper card is from the Cricut cartridge Camping Critters.  The stamped sentiments on my chocolates are from two different Jaded Blossom stamp sets:  Hello Candies and the new set, BFF Candies.

Of course who wouldn't be a Happy Camper when they're receiving a basket full of yummy chocolate?  This would even make a great little treat box kit for some s'mores.  I just didn't happen to have the items needed on hand so I stuck with plain ol' Hershey kisses.

And now that you've seen my project I'm running off to enter it into the following challenges:

Camping challenge over at Fantabulous Cricut Challenge - Ends 8/24

Food Fun challenge over at Scrappy Moms Stamps - Ends 8/25

Then it's back to work.......

UPDATE:  This project was chosen as a top 5 design team pick over at Fantabulous Cricut Challenge.

Santa Treat Box

I realize I'm a day late in posting my final Christmas in July project, but what can I say? Sometimes I'm slow but I always get there.

This cute little treat box was found over at My Scrap Chick and one of the things that I LOVE about her files is that she tells you in the file name what size to cut the project.  Pure genius if you ask me.  That way I'm not left guessing what size my layers, etc. need to be in order to fit correctly.  So thank you My Scrap Chick and Cricut for creating the Explore so that I can finally cut all these wonderful SVG files.

Back to my project.  I wanted a bit of texture to help break up all the white trim and such so I embossed Santa's beard and mustache.  The "fur" trim pieces to Santa's outfit were coated with some Martha Stewart Carrara Marble glitter.  Ink up the edges a little, put it all together and add some yummy chocolate with sentiments stamped from Cardz TV Stamps Very Merry.

Now to go enter this in to the following challenges before they end:

UPDATE:  My treat box was chosen as a showcase winner for this challenge at Die Cuttin Divas.

Dear Santa

As Christmas in July starts winding down I decided to get a start on making some Christmas tags and I have to tell you this Santa file over at My Scrap Chick makes up quick and easy.  Not to mention the end result is one heck of a cute tag.  The sentiment is from the Cardz TV stamp set "Very Merry".

I've only made three of tags so far and for each one I've used a different "background" paper.  I had even given some thought to making one or two of them in non-traditional colors.  But then I got a little concerned about Santa's hat being red and how would that look....Right now it's still up for debate.

In the meantime though I'm going to run off and enter these guys into the following challenges:

Hiding in My Craft Room - ends July 26th

Die Cuttin Divas - ends July 28th

Craftin Desert Diva's - ends August 3rd

Lookin' Good Birthday Gift Set

I don't know about where you live, but here in the Panhandle of Florida it's been a crazy, rainy weekend. Needless to say this has left the tourists in town with nothing much to do other than shop so our family decided to stay home rather than fight the traffic.  On a good day this time of year it can take hours to get anyway in town so imagine what it's like on a rainy day.

That's okay though because it gave me a weekend with a lot of crafting time.  And trust me I got a lot of paper crafting done.  Today I have a project I made using files from My Scrap Chick.  I saw this shirt bag set and fell in love with it.  It makes up nice and quick too.

Of course I had no one in mind when I put this set together.  Rather I was thinking about the 3D masculine birthday challenge that's still going on over at Cardz TV.   Speaking of Cardz TV, the birthday sentiments I used on my project are from her stamp set titled Good Times which you can purchase here.

Now I'm off to enter this project in the following challenges:

Happy Birthday Smartie Pants

The card that I'd like to share with you today is one that I scraplifted from Luv Scrappin Together after I saw it on Pintrest.  Immediately I was sucked in with that gotta have it mentality.  I mean it was brilliantly cute, fun and irresistible.  Best of all it was perfect for this quote I've been wanting to use and have had posted by my computer screen for weeks just waiting for that perfect cut.

So what is the quote you ask?  Well it's.........

All the world is a laboratory to the inquiring mind.
     ~  Martin H. Fischer

Now let's talk about how the card is made.  You see this is actually three files combined.  All are from My Scrap Chick.  I (we) used:

Science Lab for the test tubes

Pumpkin Box for the body of the mad scientist

Halloween Treat Toppers for the mad scientist's head

Unfortunately I didn't save my files so I don't remember was sizes I cut everything at, but I do believe I cut the pumpkin box at the recommended size and then sized the other cuts accordingly.

Birthday Tag

It's time for another PDE Linky Party everyone!  And this week it's all about tags.  Create a tag, any tag, link it up and play along with us.  And the beauty of it is that  you can create your tag in any crafting medium you desire.

Now for my tag I started with one already pre-made and wrapped some paper from the All About Girls mat stack by DCWV.  My cut file is from the Spa gift set by My Scrap Chick.  This is the first time I've used one of her files and I gotta tell  you I'm in love.  She was having a great sale when I bought this one so I picked up several new files from her that I'll be making in the come days ahead.

And my stamped sentiment is from the Cardz TV stamp set Good Times.

Now that  you've seen my tag for this week's challenge be sure to check out all the other ones our team has created for you.  Then after you've been amply inspired, create your own, link up and play along.  I can't wait to see what you create.
