You're My Person

Today I have a quick and easy card to share with you.  It's another card where I let my background paper do my work for me.  I mean when you're in a pinch and need to create a card quickly why not take this route?

That being said, for this card I used the Stone Age file from Marjorie Ann Designs and chose to piece together the Pebbles character.

The background paper is from the DCWV mat stack title the Kidosaurus Stack.

The stamped sentiment is from the Craftin Desert Divas stamp set titled Happy Thoughts.

BFFs for Life

I have a fun 'teen' card I'd like to share with you today.  Well, I guess it's not really a 'teen' card if you think about the fact that so many adults are right there too. Where you say?  With phone in hand, texting, tweeting, Facebooking, etc.

When I saw this recently released Social Media Kids file from Marjorie Ann Designs I knew it was going to be a fun one.  As always, she did not disappoint.  The file includes several emojis, phrases,  word balloons, and characters.

For my card, I chose one of the girls and word balloons, which I changed into different sizes for stamping.  Inside the word balloons I stamped words or phrases using the following stamp sets:
And there you have it, a fun card perfect for giving to any friend.

Gingerbread Smiles

Happy Wednesday everyone.  Today I have a Christmas in July card to share with you.

I created this card using the Polaroid Card Gingerbread from Treasure Box Design.  Unfortunately though this file no longer appears to be available.  I searched all over her website but could not find it listed.  In good news though she has quite a few other gingerbread files and right now she's running a sale for 70% off all collections.

This was a rather easy card to piece together since I used a premade card blank that already had a great print to it.  It's the last one I had like this in my stash though and that made me just a little bit sad.  It was from the DCWV Christmas & Winter box of cards.

The blue snowflake print paper is from my stash as well but I can't remember what mat stack it came from.

This time I thought I'd do something a bit different for my stamped sentiment on the card cover.  Since this is a polaroid card I thought I'd use this cute polaroid stamp from the Craftin Desert Divas stamp set titled Capture the Good Times.  And guess what.  This stamp set is on sale too.  🙂

Cabana Bay Layout

My crafting will be a bit sparse over the next couple of weeks as I begin to pack up my room to prepare for my move.  One of my boys is moving out and so I'll be moving into his old room and moving my remaining son into mine.  The remaining son is seldom home anymore and is planning to move to Tallahassee soon so I figured there wasn't much point in waiting.  Instead I'll begin the shifting this week and in so doing that means there's some work I'll be doing in my "new" room before I complete the move in.

In the meantime though I sat down and pulled out pictures from our trip to Universal Studios which I'll be scrapbooking.  Yesterday was the first layout of the hotel in which we stayed on-site.  If you like things that are retro, you'll love Cabana Bay.  Everything from the décor to the music that plays throughout the resort, to the videos that play on the TV in the food court area is all from the 50's and 60's era.  The best thing is once you park, you don't have to leave property.  Everything you need is there - including a shuttle to take you back and forth to the parks.  Our first stay with them was last year and it's where we'll continue to stay because we love it so much.

Since the hotel is retro 50's/60's style I decided to use the 50's Diner set from Marjorie Ann Designs.  Instead of using all the words that came for the license plate and sign I opted to use stamp in those areas.

On the license plate and the heart of my sign I used the Teenage Dream stamp set from Craftin Desert Divas.

On the main sign, under Nifty, I used the Picture That stamp set from Craftin Desert Divas.

I have some more pictures from Cabana Bay to scrapbook so you'll get to see a bit more later.

On the bottom of the sign I used Magical Memories from Jaded Blossom.

Universal Tip Pockets

Today I'm sharing a small of set of tip pockets I made for use at the hotel we'll be staying during our trip to Universal Studios.

I started with the Tip Pocket file from SVG Cutting Files.  But since we are going to Universal Studios I wanted theme to have characters from some of the different attractions in the parks rather than the icons that come with this file.

For the different characters I used files that were shared in a couple of my FB groups (Cornish pixies and Grinch hand).  I also used the Imagination file from Marjorie Ann Designs for Thing 1 and the Alien Fighters file for the alien.

The stamped sentiment is from the stamp set Simply Said from Craftin Desert Divas.

Troll Mine

Well it's Monday, and that means that play time is over for most of us as we prepare to begin another work week.  Hopefully you had a good weekend.  I spent mine hanging out with my baby sister on Saturday.  Then Sunday we spent time with our daughter and granddaughter.  In between all that I did get a bit of crafting done.

Today I want to share with you one of the cards I made yesterday.  I had a lot of fun playing around with this one and I'm pleased with the turn out.  For this card I used the recently released You're My Treasure - Trolls file by Marjorie Ann Designs.  This wonderful file has four different trolls and all just as cute as can be.

The mine background is a digi stamp called Mine Digital Stamp, and it's from Craftin' Desert Divas.  Now I'm not great at coloring and even though I have all these Spectrum Noir stamps I decided to color this stamp a bit different.  For this go round I opened the stamp in my paint program and added the colors.  I then opened it in another photo editor to change it up a bit (unfortunately I do not have Photoshop) until I was satisfied.  To get the background the size that I wanted for my card, I inserted into Word and changed up the size then printed on a piece of white cardstock.

The sentiment is from the Jaded Blossom Stamp set titled Sweet Travels.

To finish off my card I used a couple of slate colored skittles from DoubleClick Connections in the top corner.

And since I haven't done a challenge in a while I thought it would be fun to enter this one into the Fun Day Friday Challenge at Jo's Scrap Shack.

Captain America - Favorite 'Sidekick'

It's a dreary, rainy day here in Florida. It started late last night and has been going off and on ever since.  They say it'll be out of here around lunch, but I guess we'll find out.  These are the days that I love to just sit at home and craft away.  But it's another work day so that's not going to happen.  ☹

On a brighter note though, I have another meeting of the crafting passions to share with you today.  It's another super hero set, and this time it features Captain America.

For the burp cloth I used the Little Super Hero 1 file from Stinkin' Cute Applique.  He's one of four different hero appliques that are currently available.

The card was made using the Little Hero's set from Marjorie Ann Designs.  This set features the same heroes available from Stinkin' Cute Applique and more.  So if you have a little boy or even an older one that you're creating a gift for you can create a fun set with these two design files.

The stamped sentiment on my card is from Craftin' Desert Divas.  It's the stamp set titled Calling All Superheroes.  (FYI - this set was just moved to her retiring section so quantities are limited and once they're gone.....they're gone)

To finish off my card I used a couple of Red skittles from DoubleClick Connections.

And while this may not be a "traditional" looking baby shower gift set I'm sure it'll be a hit.  😊

Happiness Enclosed

I have an Easter card that I'd like to share with you today.  I made this one using the Easter Bear file from Marjorie Ann Designs.  I've had this file in my stash since last year when it was given as a freebie in her FB group Free SVG's ~ Games & More ~ Marjorie Ann Designs.  Not sure why I waited so long to use it because it pieces together nicely and he's cute as can be.

When putting my card together I decided to also pull another sketch from my stash to use.  It's another one I've had for a while but haven't used until now.  At first I wasn't sure if I like the colors and such but the more I look at the card the more I like it.

The stamped sentiment I used is from the Craftin Desert Divas stamp set Happy Thoughts.

Calling All Heroes

I don't know about you but I love it when I find two of my crafting passions collide.   I know, I know.  Collide doesn't sound like a good thing but trust me, in this case it is a good thing.  Remember how I shared last week that my friend Marge had opened a new shop on Etsy called Stinkin Cute Applique?  Well the designs she's using to create these wonderful appliques can also be found in SVG for at Marjorie Ann Designs.

That means if you're like me and you love to papercraft AND you enjoy embroidery too you can coordinate some of your crafting.

For example, I created today's greeting card using the Little Heroes file at Marjorie Ann Designs.  The stamped sentiment is from the Calling All Superheroes stamp set from Craftin Desert Divas.

Then I made this fun burp cloth using the Little Super Hero 3 applique file from Stinkin Cute Applique.  This little cutie was a lot of fun to stitch and I absolutely LOVE how he turned out.  Even with my limited newbie skills I couldn't mess this hero up.

Now you put the two of these cuties together and you have a cute little gift set to give for a precious little boy.  See?  Crafting passions collide.  LOL

Spring Wishes

I am happy to announce that I have rejoined the Marjorie Ann Designs design team.  I took a couple months off for various reasons but they were crazy enough to take me back and so here I am.  😀

With Spring around the corner I thought it would be fun to create a springtime card.  I mean I don't know about you, but I'm ready for those wonderful days of beautiful sunshine.  I hate the cold. (Even though it doesn't get that cold in Florida compared to other areas.)  But I love the sun and the heat and being able to be outside doing what I love.  That's why when I saw these Spring Bonnet Girls I knew they'd be perfect for my return project.

I searched through my collection of card sketches and decided to use this one to showcase my bonnet girl.  It's a fun sketch that has some great versatility.  And it was perfect for this card.

The sentiment I chose for my card is from the Garden Cuties stamp set by Craftin Desert Divas.  And to finish off my card I chose to use a couple of meadow green skittles from the DoubleClick Connections.

Sympathy Cards

This past Saturday was a difficult day for our family as we suffered not one, but two deaths in the family just hours apart from each other.

If you're like me sympathy cards are always the hardest cards to make and definitely not something I keep on hand.  As I sat down to create these two I was even surprised to find that for the 100+ stamp sets I have only one had phrases that were sympathy in nature - Simply Said by Craftin Desert Divas.

My first card, the Sunset Card, is from My Scrap Chic.  I love the simplistic beauty and peacefulness that this card brings.  To add to it I used a couple of different embossing folders from my stash and then finished it off by using purple twilight colored skittles from DoubleClick Connections.

The second card is a Lori Whitlock Card Flower Kit from the Silhouette Design Store.  This one you'd think would be easy to put together but I was back and forth so many times trying to decide what papers I wanted to use.  In the end I chose several papers from the SEI New Day and Desert Springs collections.   On this one I decided to use an orange skittle to help the center of the flower pop.

And now I'm not even sure how to end my post.  I think I've re-written it about 4 or 5 times now.  So I'll just end it by saying thanks for stopping by.....

Feel Better Harvey

Perhaps it's because I am under the weather myself but today I have chosen to share a simple get well card with you.  This one is simple because I allowed the pre-made, embossed card blank to do all the background work for me.

For this card I used one of the adorable hippos from the Harvey Under the Weather file by Marjorie Ann Designs.  There are six different 'poses' to choose from in this file but I decided on the one with the soup since I've already had chicken noodle soup from Chic-fil-A twice this week.  When I'm not feeling well there is nothing better than their chicken noodle soup.

It doesn't show up all that well in picture but I embossed the steam coming off the soup with my swirls embossing folder.  I then lightly brushed some blue ink across the embossing to help the steam stand out somewhat.

The stamped sentiment is from the stamp set Tissue Time by Craftin Desert Divas.

Cuppa Thanks

Today I have a thank you card that I'd like to share with you.  It's been a while since I've made a thank you card so I definitely need to get my stash built back up so it doesn't run dry.

For this card I used the recently released Wanna Gopher Coffee file from Marjorie Ann Designs.  As soon as I saw these cute little gophers I knew I had to create a card with them.  Not only was this cutie easy to piece together but I love that I can change up elements of the design to meet my needs.

For example, I omitted the included design on the coffee cup so that I could use that area to include my stamped sentiment.  It's the perfect size space and the location helps to create a focal point for the card.  Not to mention the location is different than the typical top or bottom corner of the card.

Speaking of stamped sentiments, this one is from the Got Coffee stamp set by Craftin' Desert Divas.

I also used the stamp set for the steaming cup of coffee on the inside of my card.  The sentiment here is from the Coffee Break stamp set by Jaded Blossom.

Football Turkey

You know the seasons are changing when the temperatures are cooler in the evening/morning, football is in full swing, the leaves start changing color, and turkey is on its way.  Since today is College Football - Roll Tide - I thought I'd share a card I created celebrating the return of Fall.  Now don't get me wrong, summer is my favorite season.  I love being outside in the bright, warm sunshine.  But I love what Fall has to offer too.  I just hate that it's the start of colder temperatures.

So for today's project I created a card using the Thanksgiving Turkey Football file from Apex Cuttable Designs.  I love that this turkey was made using footballs for the body and feathers.  To me it was such a clever idea.  And since it was designed more for use with vinyl I made one simple "modification".  In Silhouette Design Studio, I copied the turkey svg, released the compound path and then had a solid cut to use for the base of my turkey.  This allowed me to have the white threads and edges of the football behind the feathers.

The stamped sentiment is from the Hey Pumpkin stamp set from Craftin' Desert Divas.  And by the way, this is one of the stamp sets that Tara is retiring.  That means it's on sale right now and once it's sold out - that's it.

I also used some Purple Twilight and Sunset Orange skittles from DoubleClick Connections.

Happy Haunting

I'm a bit late with my post for today.  We decided late last night that we were going to hit the gym early today.  I mean like before 6AM early.  Now that our granddaughter is here we've been doing a lot of babysitting while mommy and daddy work and that's meant a decline in gym time.  So like everything else we came up with an alternate plan.  Go in the morning.  It won't be every day that we do it - just those when we need to.

And that leads me to posting today's project this evening.  Granddaddy is playing with Ocean (that's our granddaughter's name) so that I can come play with you for a few.  :)

So for today's project I have a Halloween card that I'd like to share.  This one was made with the newly released Marshmallow Bear Happy Haunting file from Marjorie Ann Designs.  She has some great Halloween files and this one is no exception.

For my stamped sentiment I used the Ghostly Greetings stamp set from Craftin Desert Divas.  The spider is from the August 2014 Peachy Keen Stamps release, set PKSC-32.  On the inside of my card I also used Peachy Keen Stamps and these are all from the Trio of Girl Ghosts.

And now I'm off to enter my card into the following challenges:

Die Cuttin' Divas - Anything Goes - Ends Sunday, September 4th

Hiding in My Craft Room - Any Holiday - Ends Saturday, September 3rd

Jo's Scrap Shack - Cut it Up - Ends Friday, September 2nd

DL Art - August Linky Challenge - Ends Wednesday, August 31st

Hi Bookworm

Die Cuttin Divas has a fun challenge going on this week so I thought I'd play along.  The challenge theme is library  day, and the challenge is to use a book on your project.  This is perfect for me given a treasure of library cards that one of my sons gave me a couple years ago.  He visited the Christian school he used to attend, and they were removing the old library cards from several books to replace with new ones and he had asked to go through them to find ones that he and his siblings had checked out.  He then brought the stack to me and I've kept them in a Ziploc bag trying to decide what to do with them.  That is until now....

For my card I used the bookworm from the Back to the Books file from Treasure Box Designs.  I had to delete several other elements from this particular file so I could cut just this particular worm but once I deleted them and then grouped these pieces together in my Cricut Design Space I cut the file at 3.45 inches high.

The blue ribbon on my book is from the Cricut Cartridge Happy Graduation.  I cut my ribbon (and my apple) from a metallic paper and then added some stickles to the center of the ribbon so as to add a bit of 'glitz'.

The stamped "hi" is from the Say it Big stamp set by Craftin Desert Divas.  One the inside of my card I used a quote from Dr. Seuss that says "The more you read, the more things you will know.  The more that you learn, the more places you'll go."

Birthday Legos

I belong to a group called I Run 4 and last year I was matched up with my wonderful buddy.  His birthday is next week and he loves to play with Legos so I decided to make him a lego themed birthday card to go with his birthday gift that I'm sending to him.

To make my card I used the Building Imaginations file from Marjorie Ann Designs.   On the outside of the card I paper pieced but on the inside I used the print 'n cut feature using the clip art that's included with every file.

The stamped sentiment on my card is from the Craftin Desert Divas stamp set titled Say it Big.

Brighter Day

I have an encouragement card I'd like to share with you today.  It's been really rainy here in the Panhandle of FL - just like it's been in a great many places throughout the U.S.  Personally, I don't care much for the rain.  It always gets me down in the dumps a bit.  Kinda like winter and all this cold air.  My guess is because that means I'm cooped up inside rather than being able to be outdoors, running around barefoot, being active and basking in all that glorious sunshine.  And so.....

....I thought I'd take that rainy weather and turn it around.

I found this cute teddy bear in his rain coat, playing with his sailboat in a puddle and thought that's perfect.  This little cutie is called Bobby and His Boat, and he's a Marjorie Ann Designs creation.

My sentiment is from the Rain or Shine stamp set from Craftin Desert Divas.  I have another one from this set that I used inside that says " when life gives you a rainy day, play in the puddles"  Isn't that perfect?

On the outside of my card I decided to be a little adventurous and I tried this new product I purchased called Goosebumps by Tsukineko.  It's a clear texture spray and mimics that wet look.  Of course I need a bit more practice as I was nervous the first time using it but I still think it turned out pretty good.

I also added a couple of Stream colored skittles from DoubleClick Connections to shake things up even more.

Valentine Charger

It's Wednesday and that means we are on the downhill slide for the weekend.  Now if only the weather would warm back up so I can enjoy those weekends more fully.  Until then I guess I'll just have to sit in my room and craft.

Today though I have an altered charger plate that I'd like to share with you.  Chargers are one of my favorite items to play with.  And since I haven't done one for Valentine's yet I thought I'd rectify that.

For this charger I created an 8" circle for the center of plate.  I then used one of the porcupines from the Stuck on You file from Marjorie Ann Designs.

The stamped sentiments on the heart are both from the Sending Love stamp set by Craftin Desert Divas.

Before I got today, I wanted to let you know that Marjorie Ann Designs  will be celebrating their first birthday this weekend with a First Birthday Facebook hop!

The hop will run from January 23rd to January 24th. With wonderful inspirations and a SVG freebies each day.

We will also be playing games in the group
Free SVG'S ~ Games and More ~ Marjorie Ann Desgins , so if you are not already a member be sure to “join” before the games begin.

I hope you'll come join in the fun.

Enveloped With Love

Surprise!  I have another Valentine card to share today.  :)

This one was created using another fun, new file from Marjorie Ann Designs titled My Sweet Valentine.  As usual, if there's a ginger involved you know I'll be making something.  Every ginger featured file has been adorable and this one is no exception.  And right now they're all on sale for 30% off.

For this card I loosely followed this sketch.

I added in some Rudolph Red skittles from DoubleClick Connections.  And the stamped sentiment is from the Sending Love stamp set from Craftin Desert Divas.
