Zombie Run Layered Shadow Box

The weekend before Memorial Day my husband and I ran in the Zombie Run together.  For those of you who don't know us personally I gotta tell you this was something special because my husband hates to run.  Fortunately for him I was 'racing' with an injured knee so I didn't really run myself - except in those moments where you had to make it through the communities of zombies if you wanted to survive.

When we started the race we each had four flags and before we were done we had none.  Funny thing about this was that my husband lost most of his during the first pack of zombies we hit.  But as we traveled through the course everyone loved him so much that they would give him a flag.  So he'd lose a flag, gain a flag. Lose a flag, gain a flag - until there were no more to gain.  Lose all your flags (like we did) and you're "infected".  Keep them all and you're a "survivor".

At one point during the race he even had one of the zombie girls tell him that if he gave her a hug she wouldn't take his flag.  So what did he do you ask?

He stretched out his arms, picked her up and carried her through the mud muddle, then set her back down and walked on.  It was a lot of fun and even with my injury I was still able to traverse some of the obstacles.

And now on to today's PDE Linky Party..........This week it's all about layers.  For my project I used this great zombie file from Miss Kate Cuttables - pop dotted it two dots deep so as to add some great dimension.  The Zombie hands are from Cricut's Frightful Affair.  Some of these I pop dotted and others I just used glue dots. And then of course there's the picture of my husband coming out of his cargo net crawl along with his racing bib and ribbon.  Take a look at the close up of his ribbon though.  Notice what the medal says.........................

Yep, Survivor.  What the heck?  I guess they really wanted to make sure he survived.  LOL

And so now that you've seen my project it's your turn.  All you have to do is make a project with layers and you're half way there.  After all you still have to link up to play along.  And if you need more inspiration first check out the other layered projects our team created to share with you.  I promise you won't be disappointed.

Wizarding World of Harry Potter Layouts

Have I told you lately how much I love the fact that I can now cut SVG files?  I started trying to scrapbook our trip to Universal Studios last year and was beside myself not knowing what to do because of the lack of die cuts out there to fit my themes.  So I put it all aside.  But now that I have the new Cricut Explore and can cut SVG's I'm getting those pictures scrapped.

This weekend I worked on our pictures from the Harry Potter ride.  For these layouts I used files from My Little Scraps of Heaven, Miss Kate Cuttables and Cricut.

On these pages the train is from Miss Kate and the other cuts are from Little Scraps of Heaven  For the sign post and the legs on my table I ran them through my Cuttlebug so as to give them a little bit of a wooden type texture.

The cuts on these pages are part of the Spellbound Wizards collection from Little Scraps of Heaven.

On these pages I used cuts from Little Scraps of Heaven and the castle from one of the Disney Princess cartridges.  I wanted to keep with the black/gray look so I didn't cut the various pieces to complete the castle.

And these cute little dragons are from Miss Kate Cuttables.  And thus completes the Harry Potter portion of our trip to Universal.  Now I can't wait to go back and explore the new sections that they have opened and are getting ready to open this Summer.
