Recycled Cassette Holder to Business Card Holder

I have a fun project to share with you today.  As we all know you can walk in to practically any thrift store and find cassette tapes on sale for 25 or 50 cents - heck maybe even less as I bought mine a while back.  Now before you laugh at me, let me tell you I didn't buy them for the tapes but for the case.  That's right, the case.  Just imagine me standing there looking over the cases for cracks, breaks, deep scratches, etc.  And all for a 25 cent plastic case.  LOL

But it's what I'm doing with those cases that makes me so darn picky.  You see I'm altering them and using them to hold business cards at my craft shows.  And since I live in the Panhandle of Florida, with the World's Most Beautiful Beaches, along the Gulf of Mexico of course I had to use a beach theme.

So to cover my cases I used DCWV's Tahiti Beach Stack.

For the cuts I used the Cricut cartridge, Life's a Beach.

I cut the hands, (one flipped) at 1" and the sandals on both holders were also cut at 1".
The stamped sentiments are from Cardz TV Stamps set Simply Said.

To cover the cassette case cut rectangles in the following sizes:

1 @ 1 1/2" x 4 1/4"

2 @ 2 5/8" x 4 1/8"

1 @ 1 1/8" x 4"

Simply glue the rectangles to the cassette case, embellish and insert your business cards

And now I'm off to enter my project into the Earth Day Challenge at Die Cutting Divas.  The challenge is to use recycled materials.

Teacher Coffee Set

Today begins a new 3D challenge at Cardz TV Stamps.  For this challenge we are celebrating teachers with a teacher treat bag, box or gift.

For my project I decided to make a coffee treat holder basket.  I found this design in the Silhouette Design store.  It's called the Coffee Holder Gift Basket by Jamie Cripps.

Since I chose a coffee holder and not a typical teacher theme project like apples, rulers or chalkboard I decided to use a school theme type paper for my basket.  The papers are from the DCWV mat stack titled The Homeroom.

For the sentiment on the coffee cups I used the Brew Ha Ha stamp set.  This is one of my all time favorites and I've used it on a lot of various projects since it came out.

And now that you've seen my take on the teacher treat bag, box or gift challenge be sure to check out the other designs our 3D design team has put together for you.  Then create your own project, link up and play along with us.  You have until April 29th to link up and you can enter up to three different designs.

Happy creating!

Hi Bookworm

Die Cuttin Divas has a fun challenge going on this week so I thought I'd play along.  The challenge theme is library  day, and the challenge is to use a book on your project.  This is perfect for me given a treasure of library cards that one of my sons gave me a couple years ago.  He visited the Christian school he used to attend, and they were removing the old library cards from several books to replace with new ones and he had asked to go through them to find ones that he and his siblings had checked out.  He then brought the stack to me and I've kept them in a Ziploc bag trying to decide what to do with them.  That is until now....

For my card I used the bookworm from the Back to the Books file from Treasure Box Designs.  I had to delete several other elements from this particular file so I could cut just this particular worm but once I deleted them and then grouped these pieces together in my Cricut Design Space I cut the file at 3.45 inches high.

The blue ribbon on my book is from the Cricut Cartridge Happy Graduation.  I cut my ribbon (and my apple) from a metallic paper and then added some stickles to the center of the ribbon so as to add a bit of 'glitz'.

The stamped "hi" is from the Say it Big stamp set by Craftin Desert Divas.  One the inside of my card I used a quote from Dr. Seuss that says "The more you read, the more things you will know.  The more that you learn, the more places you'll go."

Train

Today I have another quick an easy card to share with you.  Life has been crazy with work and things going on with our family so crafting time has been somewhat limited.  Add to that the nice, warm weather and the fact I'd rather be outside than in during the evenings and weekends.  So this week most of my cards have featured clip art rather than paper piecings.

For today's card I used another one of the cute workout bears from the Bubbles the Bear Getting Fit file from Marjorie Ann Designs.

The stamped sentiment is from the Fitness stamp set by Jaded Blossom. This comes in a bundle pack with a second set called Fitness Candies.  Hey everyone has to have a cheat snack/meal every so often.  LOL

And now I need to get myself up so that I can get ready to go help my daughter move.  That's going to be my workout for the day today, and tomorrow.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Happy Summer

I don't know about you but I am thrilled that the weather is warming.  That means more time outdoors doing the things I love - including cooking out.  We don't picnic much but a cookout with good food is close enough for me.

And so today I share a card with you featuring one of the adorable ants from the Summer Picnic Ants file from Marjorie Ann Designs.  I pieced this one together using a metallic type paper thinking I'd get a bit of a different look than I did.  Not that it looks bad but when I make the next one I think I'll stick with regular paper.

The sentiment I used on my card is from the Lawn Fawn stamp set titled Happy Summer.

On the inside of my card I used the same stamp set with the ants and trail along the bottom.  For the sentiment I used the Summer Fun stamp set from Cardz TV Stamps.

Dirt Never Hurt

My Obstacle Course Race season began last month and in a couple weeks I get to race a new venue at Fort Benning in Alabama.  I'm always excited for this time of year and so I decided to create a new card using the Mud Run file from Marjorie Ann Designs.

Recently I was looking through the various stamps from Scrappy Moms Stamps and came across this set titled Ready, Set, Go.  As soon as I saw the dirt sentiment I knew I had to add it to my collection.

I also added a couple of Caramel colored skittles from DoubleClick Connections to embellish my card.

On the inside I stamped the following sentiment:  Shatter your limits.

Getting Fit

I've been in a bit of a creative slump lately.  And this morning I couldn't sleep so I decided to try creating a card and this is what I came up with.  It's an encouragement card using the Bubbles the Bear Getting Fit file from Marjorie Ann Designs.  I opted to use the print 'n cut feature using clip art rather than piecing together.

The stamped sentiment on my card is from the Pretty Cute Stamps set titled The New You.

And then I added a red skittle from DoubleClick Connections to finish it off.  There was so much brown that I felt the need to break it up a bit and since Bubble's is in red sweatpants what better color to use.
