Just For You

It's another Cardz TV Cardz Challenge Friday!!!  This week our challenge is all about MOM!  Create a card for Mother's Day.  And just like every Cardz TV challenge Friday our design team has knocked it out of the park and created some wonderful cardz for you.  But before you go check them out let me take a moment to share with you how I created mine.

 

For my card I used the recently released For Mom file created by Too Cute by Jessica.  Seriously how cute is this darling bear?  And that daisy he's holding for mom is simply perfect.

 

I also used the stamp set titled Mixed Messages by Cardz TV Stamps.

Graduation Announcements

 

Graduation is upon us and this year my youngest son graduates.  As I typically do when the children don't mind I make their announcements and this year my son even chimed in on the design.  We ended up making two style of cards though because he wanted to invite more people than I had planned for.

With that I give you the 'fancier' cards we made that were sent to his aunts/uncles, grandparents and siblings.

To create this card I used the A2 4step card with cover from the Silhouette Design store - design 58161 - by Lori Whitlock.  For the 2015 numbers I used the true type font Impact.

 

To create the inside verbiage for the card I created my own version of the step layer in Cricut Design Space using basic shapes.  After I got the sizing down correctly I then added in the needed text, flattened the layers and then used the print 'n cut feature.

 

The cover of the cards were created using Word and printed through the printer then adhered to the front of the card.

Today I have a fun and easy card to share with you.  And yes, it's another Marjorie Ann Designs creation.  This one is from the Circus Fun 2 file.  After all who can resist a cute clown.

 

At first I had thought about turning this card into a birthday card and then I thought that was kinda cliché sooooooo, I opted to leave it a bit generic.  That way I can use for several different occasions depending on the need as it arises.  Now my card be used for a quick pick me up when encouragement is needed, sending get well wishes a birthday or any other type of celebration.

 

As for the stamped sentiment - that's from the Say it Big stamped set by Craftin Desert Diva's.

Marching to the Beat

 

I have a layout to share with you today.  This is one that features two of my sons that were in marching band during their high school days.  One of the boys played cymbals and xylophone while the other played clarinet.  And now that they are out of school the one who played cymbals has taught himself to play guitar and drums while the other one has decided he has no interest in playing an instrument but just wants to sing in his band.  Yes, both of these boys are now a part of their own band and they are two of the three that were featured in my recent boys rock layout.

 

For this layout I used a combination of both paper piecing and print 'n cut.  All pieces though are from the When I Grow Up - Marching Band file by Marjorie Ann Designs.  I did redesign the uniform a bit differently than that file so that mine would look more like that of the school uniform.  But then that's part of the beauty of Marjorie's files.  It's easy to do when you need to.

 

In addition to the Marching Band file, I also used the Cricut cartridge Locker Talk for the clarinet which I print 'n cut and then I also used a true type font from my computer for the letter B on the uniform.

Thing 1 and Thing 2

 

One of my co-workers is expecting twins (her first pregnancy) and she had a gender reveal party last week.  As her party theme she chose Thing 1 and Thing 2 from Dr. Seuss.  So I thought that making a card using these timeless favorites would be a great idea.  Sadly I cannot remember where I came across this file and after days of searching still cannot figure it out.  I have it filed under Treasure Box Designs on my computer but I'm not 100% sure as I cannot find the file on her website in order to link it.  Maybe it's been retired?

 

My sentiment was printed on the computer using a font I found on Dafont.com called Dr. Eve L.

Just Sittin Here

Welcome to another Cardz TV Card Challenge on this lovely Friday.  Our challenge this week is to create a card using butterflies.  Any theme.  Any colors.  So long as there's a butterfly.

 

For my project I used the print 'n cut feature and this oh so sweet image from Kate's ABCs.  For some images I just think that the print 'n cut is the better way to go.  At least for me because then I feel like there's no way I can mess it up.  LOL

Little Touch of Heaven

Hello everyone!  Today I have a baby card to share with you. 

 

I created this one using the Little Blessings file from Marjorie Ann Designs.  There are five babies total in the set and each one has a cuteness factor that just explodes off the charts.

 

My background paper is from a small DCWV mat stack that I have had in my stash for - dare I admit it - years.  It's called Nana's Nursery and there's one for girls and one for boys.  Yep, I have both.  So be on the look out as I will be creating a boy version of this card later.

 

In the meantime though, for my sentiment I used one of the recently released stamp sets from Cardz TV Stamps.  This stamp set is titled Heavenly.  How perfect is that for this card?

 

Last but not least, I used some skittles along the bottom right edge of my card.  These are the watermelon color and they work perfectly with the colors for my card.

TLC From Me to You

It's another fine Monday and in our area it's starting out to be a rainy day.  So what could be more fitting than this cute card I have to share with you this morning.

 

My card was created using one of the cute little Poopez files from SVG Cutting Files.  This little fella is Sleep Pee.  His poor little face looks like one that could be tired, sad or just plain not feeling it.  And with this dreary weather that's how I'm kinda feeling this morning.  But that makes this perfect to use for either a get well card, encouragement or Just Because...

 

The sentiment that I used for my card is from the recently released stamp set titled Tissue Time by Craftin Desert Divas.

Purr-fect Day

I love having options when I'm pressed for time to create a card.  And that's the beauty with the way our cutting machines are now being designed as well as the cutting files.  Today we can simply print and cut an image where just a couple years ago it was unheard of.

 

Well today I give you a card created just so.  Not because I was pressed for time but because I loved the way the image looked and have to admit I was a bit nervous about doing it justice.  Of course I'll have to come back and paper piece it for another project.  That's just how I am.  But for now....

 

So what file did I use?  Why this is one of the new circus files fro Marjorie Ann Designs.  This one is called Circus Fun Two.  I also used the ornate card base 3 from SVG Cutting Files for the card itself.  And the flowers are from the Cricut cartridge Pooh and Friends.  I just cut a small slit in the hat so that I could insert the flowers and viola it's like my little girl is performing a magic trick to make those flowers appear.

 

My sentiment is from the recently released Critter Punnies by Cardz TV Stamps.  I thought this would pair up just fine with this card since I have my tiger on there.  Of course I realize those guys roar but I bet you they purr like a kitten when they're happy too.  After all they're just one big kitty.

 

And now I'm off to enter my card into the Any Holiday challenge over at Hiding in My Craft Room because this card was created for Mother's Day (if you look closely you can see Mother's Day on my background paper).

Hershey Kiss Hat

Today I'm taking a break from the paper crafting to share a hat with you that I crocheted for a friend this past week.  Her daughter has a birthday coming up soon and she had pinned this hat on one of her Pintrest boards.  So mom thought it'd be fun to surprise her with the hat for her birthday.

Now I'm new to the world of crochet and have been teaching myself off and on for a couple year and just finally picked up the hang of it......well with the exception of holding the yarn correctly.  But that's another story.  Anyhow, I am fortunate enough that my mother (who has been crocheting for 60+ years) lives right in front of me so when I had trouble converting the pattern for a larger size I knew where to go.  Plus she gave me this great tip that made all the difference in the overall look of the hat...........You ready?

 

Every row begins with what is considered a throw away stitch. "Ch 3,  dc in same sp" Instead of chaining 3, chain 2 and the dc in the same space.  Seriously, it lays much nicer.

 

And there you have it.  My first crocheted hat that's not a straight out beanie.
