The Way I See It....Hello Kitty Pop Up

This is a card that was designed around the quote after I found it the other day. I kept trying to envision a card for the quote and this one just came to me last night as I was getting ready for bed. The only thing that I'm not too sure about is the size of the rainbow. Other than that I love it.

The rain puddles were cut from Graphically Speaking and then flocked for texture.

Abby Cadabbra Pop Up Card

This is another pop up that I created today. Again I used the cuttlebug for the outside of the card but added a die cut this time as well.

The inside is Abby Cadabbra from the Sesame Street Friends cartridge.

To create the pop up cut a piece of paper 8 x 5 inches and fold in half so that it measures 4 x 5 inches. Score along the center fold. Open the paper back up and with your ruler measure 1 1/2" from the top of the card down the crease and make a small mark. Then from the center fold measure 1 1/2" inches out on both sides again making a small mark. Using your ruler score from the center mark to each mark on the top. This will create a "V". Now fold along the score lines creating the V fold in and down the crease (also known as a valley fold).

Adhere this to the inside of your card while the V is folded inward. Once secure open in order to position your die cut for the pop up affect. When deciding where to position the die cut be sure that when the card is closed the die cut is completely hidden in the card. Secure your cut and finish embellishing the card.

Pop Up Thank You Cards

Since I'm still not able to do much of anything for a couple more days I decided that today was as good as any to begin making thank you cards for the wonderful ladies at church that have provided us food this week.

I also decided that it was a good time to try my hand at a couple of new techniques: serendipity (using the cuttlebug - looks better in real life) and making pop ups.

For this first card I used the butterfly from the Tinkerbell cartridage. The outside of the card is the serendipty technique and the butterfly is a plastic barrette that I cut the back off of for use.

The card itself is 5 1/2" x 4" closed.

Scrapping Real Life Events

This week I had to have out patient surgery and while I was sitting in the recovery room trying to escape the grip of anesthesia I told my husband that it was a shame we didn't have a camera so that I could scrap the event. So my husband being the smart man that he is whipped out his cell phone and began clicking away.

At first I wasn't really sure what to do. I mean how do you scrap something that isn't cutesy or fun? Seriously? I had no idea where to start and then I remembered seeing a Hello Kitty cut with her in the bed. "Okay" I thought "this is a start". After all there were pics of me lying in the bed.

But then as I started putting the Kitty cuts together I kept looking at the pictures I chose and started thinking about how I needed some kind of paper underneath them to help soften the look. Then it hit me. The file folder cut on Graphically Speaking - I could use that. So then I got to thinking about how I could do my journaling on the inside of the folder. And then it hit me again. I could scan in all the discharge paperwork I was given and tack it to the inside of the folders just like a mini medical file. Then my page could serve a dual purpose of recording the facts as well as the story.

Sliding Door Layout - Whatever!

This is another project that was inspired by Flip, Spin and Play - only this time there were directions that I changed up a little bit.

Once again foam core was the basis for this project and I love the possibilities that come from utilizing this medium. Other than that I used two cuts from Graphically Speaking, some paper, a dowel, glue and tape to put it all together.

School Project on Satire

This was a project my daughter had to do for her English class. They watched the movie Shrek as part of their study on Satire. Their homework assignment was to visually depict the terms: exaggeration, parody, reversal, and incongruity, but they had to use examples from the movie.

So this is what we came up with.

The two pictures are of the outside and inside of the cards. However, you will need to look back and forth between the two because the first picture show the inside of the bottom cards but the outside of the top cards and vice versa.

Guitar Hero Layout

For Christmas last year we bought the children the new Guitar Hero World Tour and they fell in love it. Several of my children are either in band, marching band or have formed their own "garage" band with friends so this was right up their alley.

This layout was created using George and Basic Shapes (thanks to a DS file that was shared by another scrapper on the Cricut Boards - don't remember her name) and Joys of the Season.

Follow Your Dreams

For this card I used my Cricut for two cuts: the diploma from Locker Talk and the arrows from Graphically Speaking. This card was actually inspired by one I saw in one of my many card magazines that I purchase. Unfortunately I can't remember which one and I have so many of them tagged that it would take me forever to find it right now....sorry.

Very easy and quick to make and an ideal card for graduation, a job promotion, a new job or other occassions I'm sure.

Father's Day T-Shirt Card

It's not often that I create a card without using my Cricut, but that's just what I did with this one. I love the versatility of being able to use the T-shirt idea when I need a quick "manly" card and it has come to my rescue on several occassions.

The inside sentiment I chose for this card is: My dad – He didn’t tell me how to live; he lived and let me watch him do it.

Get Well Card

Here's another one that I did yesterday. Again very simple - unless you consider the layering of colors in the silhouette and then having to trim around to get it all just right. While not a difficult task was a little time consuming, but worth the effort.

The balloon is from Hello Kitty. I just cut the 'tail' off of it and used embroidery floss to make it look a little more 'real'. I also pop dotted it to add a little dimension to the card.

Believe in yourself-

Designed this card the other night but finally cut it out and put it together yesterday. For this one I used the Sesame Street Friends and Mickey and Friends carts.

The flower was cut at 6.5" and the lady bug was scaled down a little smaller than 1".

The inside sentiment says Believe in yourself, I do.

Very simple card and yet it turned out beautifully.
