Little One

Happy Sunday everyone!

It's amazing how a rain storm can make things feel warmer and then suddenly it turns cold again. That's just what happened here in the FL Panhandle this weekend and let me tell you it's for the birds. Don't get me wrong I'm grateful not to have all the snow that's going on up North but at the same time I do live in Florida....

The card I have to share with this morning is a baby card that I created from a sketch I saw. I used New Arrival, George and Accent Essentials. As you can see it's a rather simple design and was easy to put together.

The safety pins are new brads that I found at Hobby Lobby from a company called Eyelet Outlet. They had several types of different styles and I thought these would be really fun so I had to grab them.

And now I must get back to work......I still have to finish this week's Cricut Cardz Challenge. Stay tuned you won't want to miss this one - it's sure to have some really great designs from the team this week. I'm so excited to see them all that I can hardly stand it.

Color Challenged Valentine

For this week's Cricut Cardz DT Challenge we had to make a valentine using only the colors black, white, purple and green........Talk about a challenge all right! This was it for me.

At first it didn't hit me that pink was not a color option so my original design allowed for it. But when I went back to double check what I thought I saw wasn't there. So I scrapped the original idea and went back to the drawing board. Everything - and I mean EVERYTHING I started thinking of used a color that wasn't allowed.

Finally it hit me - why not just make a lovebirds theme and go for it? And that's how I came up with this one. The unfortunate part of that is that despite the several pictures I took none of them showed up the colors that well, and my daughter has drained the battery on her camera so this pic is as good as it gets. ::::SIGH::::

The inside sentiment for my card says, "Be Mine, Lovebird"

Miss You

Good morning everyone! The card I want to share with you this morning was originally created for a submission call that wasn't accepted. That's okay though because it just means that I can share it with you sooner. The guideline for this card submission was that the theme had to be thinking of you, miss you, sympathy, etc.

For this card I chose to use

Zooballoo for the Walrus - I pop dotted the snout and added a piece of specialty yarn to create a "scarf"

Paper Dolls for the Hat

Sizzix for the embossing

Thinking of You - S Fold Card

Good morning, Happy Wednesday/Hump Day,

This week's Cricut Cardz Challenge was to design a thinking of you card in an "S-Fold" fashion......Having never heard of an s-fold card before I had to ask where I could find directions. But so that you don't have to go searching I have the link for you right here:

For my card this week I chose to use the Pooh and Friends cartridge for the:

Gopher cut at 2 1/2"

Clouds" cut at 1"

And then I used George for the:

boxes cut at 3 and 3 1/2"

Sentiment cut at 2"

Free Standing Paper Pup Birthday

On the way home from work Saturday my husband and I were talking about how our son's birthday is today (Monday) and out of nowhere he says - yeah I think mom's is Tuesday. My jaw hit the floor - okay not really but still.....After verifying with my husband's step-dad that yes her birthday is Tuesday (tomorrow) I had to quickly get a card created so everyone could sign it and I could get it in the mail.

So yesterday morning I whipped this card together before we left for church. It's just another of my simple to put together cards, but I think she'll love it just the same.

Handful of Thanks

I recently saw the phrase "Thanks for lending a hand" somewhere (don't remember where now) and almost immediately this card design popped into my head. Initially I created it in hopes that it would be accepted for publication but it was not meant to be. But that's okay because now I can share it with all of you.

For this one I used

A Child's Year for the Hand and the inside "border"

Tags, Bags, Boxes and More for the tag

Old West for the Thank You

Old West Manly Birthday

Okay so I know I'm a day late (and more than a dollar short I'm sure) in posting this but life has been crazy this week......

The Cricut Cardz Challenge for this week was to design a Masculine Birthday card using any cart and color scheme we wanted. Since I really loved the way last week's card turned out using the Old West cartridge I wanted to explore it some more and chose that for my cart.

Once again it was a simple card to put together. Just had to cut the cowboy and girl three times each (once for the flesh, once for the shirt and once for the pants). After that I used inks to color in the boots and hair. The rocks and other items were scaled to sizes that would fit those of the "characters" so that it would look like they were sitting around a campfire singing Happy Birthday to the card recipient.
Oh and my font is one that I downloaded from dafont.com called Alpha Smoke.

Howling Thank You Card

Today's card is brought to you buy Cricut Cardz Challenge #7. This week's assignment was to create a Thank You themed card.

I was looking through my cartridges and trying to decide what to do. All I knew was that I wanted something a little different. Then while looking through the Old West cartridge I saw the howling wolf and just knew that I had to use him.

So my moon is just a circle cut from George and inked. All my other cuts are from the Old West cartridge and my ground is actually made from sandpaper that I inked to add depth/color.

First Valentine of 2010

This morning I thought it would be fun to begin making valentines and what better cartridge to use than the Sweethearts cart? I am confident in saying that we'll be seeing a lot of valentines created using this cartridge.

For mine though I decided to create not only the card but a matching envelope to hold it in. I cut the envelope at 5", the tag at 4.75" and the key and lock at 3".

And because I wasn't able to fit my sentiment on the front of the tag I placed it on the back.

Very simple but fun.

Crawling Baby Blocks

I have been busy creating cards for various challenges this past week and while I wish that I could share them with you all now you'll have to wait for them to be revealed when the time comes.

But, I just finshed a "New Arrival" - Congratulations card. Unfortunately, the pictures I took with both the camera and my scanner just do not do it justice as the patterned paper is glittery with pinks and greens that don't really show up. Perhaps, I'll get that new camera purchased soon.....

In the meantime, this picture will just have to do. For this card I used:

Paper Dolls Everyday for the crawling baby and rabbit

New Arrival for the baby blocks

The patterned paper is from Nana's Nursery
