I found the idea for these Memory games on the Cricut MB which in turn was found on one of new favorite sites to surf - the My Mind's Eye blog. This wonderful idea came from designer Amber Packer and the instructions can be found here.
I will say that when I first started this project I became easily frustrated because I had never used Mod Podge before. My pictures weren't lying flat and they were drying with bubbles and streaks. Truth be told, it wasn't until I was almost done with the second game set that I finally got the hang of it and everything started drying streak free.
Thank goodness that neither mom is going to care about the streaks......
Bottom line, no Cricut was used - just good ol' cardstock and pre-designed chipboard letters. The pictures for each playing piece measured 1.75" x 1.5" so I was able to layout approximately 20 pictures (or 10 sets) to one 8.5" x 11" sheet of photo paper.

I know, I know. I need to get off the Robotz kick and get back to playing with my other cartridges. In all fairness though I did use Designer's Calendar along with Robotz on these cards.
Today's cards are part of the cricut cardz challenge for this week - week #22 to be exact. Rather than being serious and elegant this year I opted to be more cutesy and fun. Especially since the gifts I made for both mom's are altered Memory games. But more of that coming in the next post......
Belated Birthday Robotz - Masculine
I love the way this robot is posed and thought he'd be perfect for a masculine birthday card. And behind him is a set of gears created with one of the new Tim Holtz Alterations dies from Sizzix.
I cut the robot at 5", glittered his little antenna dish and pop dotted for a more layered effect. The gears were distressed (my first attempt) using Tim Holtz distress ink in tea dye and Colorbox black ink.
Another simple card that looks great - at least in my opinion.
The inside sentiment says, "I sent your birthday card late on purpose. I figured why ruin your special day by reminding you of your age?"
On the suggestion of a fellow blogger I think I'll give this contributer's showcase a try and enter this card into Showcase #4.

I have finally had an opportunity to begin looking over the many assignments from my March blog candy giveaway. And today's card is a creation based on one of the assignments.....The assignment given by rstuck2003 was a "Father's Day card or thank you card for our military made from the Stand & Salute cartridge. You can use any cut/cuts and any style of card!"
While very simple this is a thank you card using Stand and Salute along with one of the pictures that my husband took at the Annual Eglin AFB Air Show earlier this month.

I was flipping through the current issue of the Complete Guide to Cardmaking magazine and saw a card that just made me sit back and say duh. The technique was simply utilizing charms on the card and a few months ago I found several clearanced at Hobby Lobby that I had purchased for mere pennies. Of course they've been hanging on the peg board just waiting for the "perfect" use and finally I had one.
The inside paper is from DCWV's High School matstack.
Feel Better Robotz
From the moment I saw the Robotz cartridge I knew I had to add it to my ever growing collection. Last week a lady on one of my groups mentioned the cricutmachine.com website and I found it there for less than if I had picked it up at Michaels or AC Moore for half price. Needless to say I was excited and even more so when it was shiped the day after I ordered!
For this week's Cricut Cardz Challenge I chose to feature this fabulous cartridge and let me tell you - if you don't have this one you're missing out. In addition to using the Robotz cartridge I also used George to cut the "call out" and the kleenex "box".

I needed to create a card for a friend that is leaving me tomorrow to begin work elsewhere, and while I wish her the best I will certainly miss her. Tonight I decided to try my hand at making one the wiper cards I've seen and was surprised at how easy it was to put together. Had I known it was that easy I would have started making these sooner.
This card was made using a combination of my Sizzix and my Cricut. I used Sizzix for my owl, tree branch, moon and stars. My words were created using Pooh Font and my 'backdrop' was created from Accent Essentials.

I have finally completed the order I had for graduation announcements. Fortunately it was for a family member so that allowed me a little extra time. By the time all was said and done though I created three different style cards.
The school bus card was made using Doodlecharms for the bus cut at 4", Every day paperdolls for the heads and graduation caps cut at 2", and Mickey Font for the school's acronym welded and cut at 3/4".
The time card was made using Graphically Speaking for the clock face and the word time. I'm sorry but I don't remember the sizes I used for this one.

The Activities Director for our resort is the co-chair for our Relay for Life team and she asked me if I could create a few cards to be raffled off at the survivors luncheon. She loved the walking ribbon card that I did a while back so i decided to re-create that one and decorate the inside with something simple.
Once I got those finished I decided to put together a gift basket as well using one of my sock cupcakes that she fell in love with as well. I found the basket for just a couple dollars on sale at Michael's yesterday and knew it would be perfect for this. I just love how it turned out and the card I made for the Cricut Cardz Challenge this week went with it perfectly.
