This week's Cricut Cardz Challenge was to create a wedding card using any cartridge and colors we desired. Needless to say, I was excited when I noticed that the new Wild Cards cartridge I picked up for $25 at Walmart had wedding cuts on it because that meant I got to use my new cart.

It's been a crazy week yet again so I'm a little late getting my card for this week's Cricut Cardz Challenge posted. Our mission this week was to create a card with a vacation theme using any cartridges we wanted.
At first I started thinking about destinations. You know theme park, beach, any number of tourist traps. But then it hit me. Whenever a family goes on vacation what question inevitably gets asked time and time again? You got it........."Are we there yet?" And so my card was born.
Everyday Paper Dolls for the road and the van
Going Places for the sun, camper and inside sentiment
The inking on my vehicles leaves a little to be desired otherwise it didn't turn out too bad.
Little Fisherman
Since this is VBS week I won't be getting much crafting done, but I do have a quick card that I wanted to share with you today. I made this one using my Sizzix - something I need to do more often...especially since I just purchased a bunch of new dies.
I saw this one a while back on clearance and absolutely loved it. My dad, husband, nephew and second youngest son are all fishers so I knew I'd get use from it.
The face for this boy was created using a free software I found called Create A Face.
For my inside sentiment I chose a wonderful little play on words quote....."Good things come to those who bait." Author unknown

I was so excited that cutting fabric with my Cricut actually worked! I had tried it a while back with no success but then I found a post on the Cricut MB that gave wonderful directions. So I gave it another try last night.
My dad, who is now retired, is an avid fisher of both fresh and salt water. Needless to say with all the fishing he does I never need to go to a seafood restaurant. Besides I know that my seafood is really fresh when he's bringing it in. Kinda like the red snapper that is in my fridge for dinner tonight. Yum!
For this project I used Ultra Heat 'n Bond (my mom tells me there's a better product on the market that she uses now - guess I'll have to give it a try) along with my fabrics and Cricut. The sun and fish were cut using Create a Critter and the water and fisherman were cut using Going Places.

I had this card laid out in Design Studio for some time now and had forgotten all about it until I was cleaning up my files yesterday. So while we were waiting for our first appointment of the day I decided to cut and finish creating what I started.
For this card I used:
Accent Essentials for the scalloped circles - cut twice at 2 3/4" and 2 1/2"
Stretch Your Imagination for the birdhouse - cut at 1 3/4" and the bird cut at 1" both of which are pop dotted to the card
The song notes were cut from a punch
My inside sentiment is an old Proverb that says, "Those who wish to sing always find a song"

This week's Cricut Cardz Challenge was to create a card using any shoe cut we wanted. I kept racking my brain all week trying to figure out what in the world I was going to do and at one point I thought I had it but realized I didn't.
My inside sentiment says, "Know, first, who you are; and then adorn yourself accordingly." Epictetus
Then I remembered that I had this wonderful paper and decided to design around it. Easily done but looking back I'm thinking I should have made my cuts a little smaller so that they would fit better on the card. Then again I guess clouds never line up "straight".
For this card I used Create a Critter for the clouds and Disney's Happily Ever After for the shoes.

I finally used my Destinations cartridge for another project! It's a cool cartridge - especially if you're one of those people who do a lot of traveling but I'm not and it came with my Gypsy so any use I get out of it is like a bonus.
When I think of buffalo I think of a breed of animal that could perservere just about anything as they roam the wide open plains. And so when I saw the buffalo cut on Destinations I decided to use it along with Old West to create a "roaming" type theme for a card.
Once I had the layout designed I went to Quote Garden in search of a sentiment and found one by Confucius that says, "Wherever you go, go with all your heart."

This week's Cricut Cardz Challenge was to create a Father's Day card using cartridge of our chosing. This week I chose to use A Child's Year.
Back in March I made a St. Patrick's Card using a new technique presented on Splitcoaststampers called the folded paper frame . The first one I made wasn't the right size for my card but I didn't want to waste it so I left it sitting by my computer monitor. Finally this week, after much staring, I had a new vision for its use and this card was created.....
The silhouette was cut at 2" to fit perfectly inside the frame. The frame itself was adhered using 3-D zots to give it some depth and the edges inked and slightly curled. An eyelet was strategically placed from which to hang the dad charm which was found on clearance at Hobby Lobby.

I saw a picture in a magazine that was of an alien standing on the moon (I think) saying 'hey human". Since I don't have the new Monsters cartridge yet I decided to make my rendition using Robotz. The beauty of this one is that it's so versatile. Seriously, on the inside you could have a sentiment related to most anything - Father's Day, Birthday, Get Well so on and so forth. For this one though I made it into a Father's Day card from my husband's step-dad.
The scalloped squares on my card were cut from Accent Essentials. The strip at the bottom was simply cut on the paper trimmer and the edges rounded off using my corner punch.
