Mother's Day Card challenge

This week's Cricut Cardz Challenge was to create a Mother's Day card using any card feature and to include a flower.  I chose one of the card features from A Child's Year and while I admit that the outside of the card ended up being too busy for the cut used I love the way the inside turned out.

For the inside of my card I used Car Decals.  For my flower I cut off the flower portion of the girl cut and added a ribbon flower to add texture and depth to the card.

Bambi

I received a RAK in the mail the other day and inside the package were a couple of pages torn from old books.  At first I was thinking that was the craziest thing I'd ever seen but then I kept looking at the pages thinking "why not?" and thus this card was born.

For this one I used Create A Critter for all my cuts.  The deer was cut at 3 3/4" and the darker brown layer was covered in flock to add texture.  The butterflies were cut at 1".

This was a very simple car but with the addition of the pages taken straight from the book Bambi it has wonderful life breathed right into it.

Blog Candy Alert

Would you like a chance to win the new Campin Critters cart?  Pop on over to Sherrie Scraps and while you're there check out all the fabulous projects that she's created.  I just love her So Grateful for You card that she made with that wonderful sun cut from this cart.

What are you waiting for?  Get over there and check it out.....

Just a Note

I love, love, love the new Campin Critters cartridge.  If you haven't checked out yet you should - especially if you love the Create A Critter cartridge.  When I first saw this one I knew I was going to have to get my hands on it as soon as I could afford to do so and when I found it cheap on ebay it was mine.  lol

So this is the first card I made using this great cartridge.  Isn't he just one of the cutest birds you've seen???  For this card I not only used the new Campin Critters, but also

Accent Essentials for the inside scallop

Wild Card for the sentiment (combined with George for the ...)

Father's Day

I just got in my new Father's Day cartridge a couple days ago and had some time to sit down and play with it a tiny bit this weekend.  Looking over the cuts I had to use the remote control first - after all we know that those silly things are near and dear to the hearts of our men.  LOL

So for this card I used:

Father's Day for the remote control and the Happy Father's Day badge

A Child's Year for the hand

Mickey and Friends for the TV

The hand has a pop dotted thumb as it was brought around to push a button.  The TV "springs" away from the inside of the card using a folded paper spring.
Now stayed tuned because Wednesday morning I'll be sharing a Mother's Day card for our Cricut Cardz Challenge this week.

Easter Egg Holder

Happy Wednesday everyone!  This week's Cricut Cardz Challenge is to use a cupcake wrapper or holder but I wanted to use mine for something other than a cupcake.  But what?  After some thinking I thought why not use it as an egg holder.

Then, I remembered a post I did last month for some Easter Egg Buddies I made using plastic canvas and plastic eggs.  In that post I wondered if I could re-create them using my Cricut.  Well, here's my attempt at doing just that.

For this project I used:

Easter 2010 for the cupcake wrapper cut at 2"

Simply Charmed for the baby chick cut at 1" and pop dotted to the wrapper so that it would stand out straight on the wrapper

Simply Charmed for the ears on my egg.  I cut the head of the baby bunny twice - flipping one for the backside.  Removed the face portion of the head and then hot glued the ears around the egg as seen in the picture.

Now it's your turn to come and play along with us.  Create  your project using a cupcake wrapper from any cartridge and link it to the CCC #70 by Tuesday, April 19th.  I look forward to seeing what you've created.

Mushroom Birthday Card

I saw a card this morning that used a mushroom as the focal point and it caught my eye to such degree that I wanted to make one of my own.  I kept playing around with different papers to use for the background and any patterned paper I chose was far too busy so I stayed with a clean piece of white.  Only problem with that was when I tried to take a picture.  ;o)

For this card I used:

Tinkerbell and Friends for the mushroom cut at 2 1/2"

Paper Doll Dress Up for the fence cut at 1" (I painted over the fence with white distressing paint and then lightly inked over it with a light shade of brown and gently used a distressing tool along the tops of the pickets)

Pooh and Friends for the sun cut at 1" and butterflies cut at 3/4"

Accent Essentials for my background - this piece was skewed to measure 3 3/4" x 5 1/4"

The cloud I had cut some time ago and then never used so it's from my non-used cut stash.  In other words, I have no idea what cart it's from.  lol

Once put together I turned this into a birthday card.  The inside sentiment says, "It's your day and I hope it's as special as you.  Happy Birthday!"

Family Movie Night: Truth Be Told

As a member of the BuzzBlogger program I was invited to watch a pre-screening of the upcoming Family Movie Night Move Trutch Be Told in exchange for my honest opinion.  And honestly, I have to tell you that  this has got to be the BEST ONE YET!  Don't believe me?  Check out the preview here.

Truth Be Told will air on Fox this coming Saturday, April 16th and you and your family will NOT want to miss this one.  Not only did the movie have a great cast of actors it also had a wonderful storyline full of fun twists and turns.

From the beginning I found myself sucked into the story and identifying with characters.  Then as the movie progressed I found myself laughing and crying right along with them too.  The writers and the cast did an excellent job bringing together a modern day story about the importance of being honest - with yourself and others.  And in today's society this is lesson that we can all use a reminder on.

There is just so much that I wish I could tell you about this movie, but I don't want to give it away.  I want you to be able to experience it as I did and enjoy it from beginning to end.  So please join me this Saturday at 8pm EST - 7pm CST and tune in to FOX to see Truth Be Told.  You'll be glad you did.

And the Winner Is.....

Before I post the name of the winner I would like to thank everyone who stopped by the last couple of days and participated in our first ever blog hop.  I had a lot of fun and hope you all did as well.

And now without further delay I give you the name of the winner for the blog candy I offered during this Easter blog hop.  The winner is...........craftaholic  who said...

"New follower here and your Easter Scene is very cute!! Well done! TFS!!"

Thank you again everyone and I look forward to seeing you again soon.

Memo Frog

Here's another plastic canvas project that I completed recently.  This is from a 1980's Canvas Capers kit I found on ebay.  It was a Dick Martin design that I had never seen before so I was very excited to find it and get it for a reasonable price.
