Special Delivery

This weekend I took a brief break from crafting to start getting all the things I've made lately in order.  You see Oktoberfest is a mere 26 days away and there's a lot to tag and bag.  On my blog here I mainly share my papercrafts with you but I also loom knit, sew and have even started learning how to crochet.  So as I started getting ready I realized that I basically have no Christmas cards.  Talk about a mild panic setting in.

After I got to a stop point with the tagging and bagging I quickly got to work creating Christmas cards.  One of the first ones I made is a favorite from last year using the Reindeer Card from the Mistletoe Manor file from SVG Cuts.  I love the ease of putting this card together and the end result is just gorgeous.

For the stamped sentiment on this card I used the Naughty or Nice stamp set from My Craft Spot.  (Sadly they are no longer in business.)

Flavors of Fall Treat Jars

Today I have a quick and easy project I'd like to share with you.  I was at Michael's the other day and while I was standing in line to check out I saw these little spice jars in the $1 and $2 bins.  They were actually $1.50 each and I thought what the heck.  Why not grab a couple and just play with them.

So using the new Flavors of Fall file from Marjorie Ann Designs I decided to break out my printable vinyl and create a couple of decals that I could stick on each of my jars.  After choosing the two I wanted I printed them out, stuck them on the jars and then filled them up with a little bit of coordinating left over Easter grass and some yummy chocolate kisses.

And there you have it.  A couple of quick and easy treat jars.

Just Saying....

I love being able to create cards that are not the standard rectangular folded card.  Today's card is one of those fun shaped ones.....

For my card today I used the Chunky Curved Base Card from SVG Cutting Files.  I also used the Squaredy Scarecrow from SVG Cutting Files.  To add a bit of flair to the card I decided to create somewhat of a swoop  to help add some color and give me a place to add a sentiment.

Speaking of sentiments, the one I used is from the Cardz TV Stamps set Just Saying.

To finish off my card and add a bit more fall color, I decided to add a couple of orange skittles from DoubleClick Connections.

And now I'm off to enter my card into the following challenges:

Thinking of You - SVG Cutting Files - Ends September 14th

DL Art - August Linky Challenge - Ends August 31st

Birthday Wish

I have a birthday card that I would like to share with you today.  This one features those infamous red slippers from the Wizard of Oz.

For my card I used the Wonderful Wizard Friends file from Too Cute by Jessica.  Since I was using the shoes for the focus of my card and the slippers were glitzy I wanted to try using different style papers to help my shoes look similar.  Unfortunately it shows up better in real life than it does in the picture.  But I used a combination of glitter, foil and plain papers for the various pieces of the shoes.

Then I wanted to kind of pull in that brick road feel so I embossed a piece of gold metallic paper and used it as an accent paper on my card.  Add a couple of red skittles from DoubleClick Connections, and a stamped sentiment from the Yellow Brick Road stamp set from Jaded Blossom and there you have it.  A birthday wish card.

Brighter Days

Today I have an encouragement card to share with you.  This one uses files from:

I wanted a different style card for this little cutie so that he really popped, and I think this center step card was perfect.  I also decided to do something a little different with his nose.  I wanted it to have that kind of wet, shiny look so I applied some black enamel accents and then after it dried I used the gel pen to add the white.  Of course this shows up much better in real life than it does in the photograph.

The stamped sentiment on my card is from the Encouragement stamp set from Jaded Blossom.

Encouragement Treat Cups

Today I have a quick project.  I have a couple of friends who've been going through some rough patches so I wanted to give them both a quick pick me up.  And what better to do it with than chocolate?

So I grabbed a couple of my mini coffee cups, covered them and stamped sentiments from the recently released Encouragement set by Jaded Blossom.  For the lid I used one of the circle shapes from George and Basic Shapes and attached a print 'n cut image from the Marjorie Ann Designs file Butterfly Kisses.

I then stamped sentiments from various candy stamps from Jaded Blossom:  Hello Candies, BFF Candies, Villain Candies, and the Wonderland Bundle.

And now I'm off to enter this into the following challenge:

DL Art - August Linky Challenge - Ends August 31st

Hello There

Happy Monday everyone.  Today I have a thinking of you card to share.  This one features one of the adorable squirrels in the Bunch of Nuts file from Marjorie Ann Designs.  There are five of these little guys in the file and everyone single one of them are as adorable as can be.

My sentiment is from the Cardz TV Stamps set titled Mixed Messages.

And now I'm off to enter my card in the following challenge:

Our Adventure Together

It's the end of the week and we are almost there.  I have to admit today will have me nerve racked until it's over.  Today I have my first Board of Directors meeting with one of the new Associations that I just took over management for.  The first time is always the hardest right?  And it's been quite an adventure thus far so today's quick and easy card is fitting........at least in sentiment.

For my card today I used the print 'n cut feature for this great car with the family traveling.  It's from the Road Trip file by Marjorie Ann Designs.  I love how this cut worked perfectly for the background paper I found in my stash.  Talk about the perfect size and everything.

The sentiment is from the recently released Sweet Travels stamp set from Jaded Blossom.

Broom Flying

I love crafting for the holidays.  Years ago I'd never do anything for Halloween though.  It was just too gory a holiday for my liking.  But over the years I've seen more and more cutesy stuff and since it's my husband's favorite holiday I decided I'd play along.

So today I have another cute Halloween card to share.  For this one I used the Marjorie Ann Designs file titled Spooky Squeaks.  This file is full of cute little mice getting their Halloween groove on.

My stamped sentiment is from the Craftin Desert Divas stamp set titled Ghostly Greetings.  I even used the sentiment about when witches go riding on the inside of my card.

And now with my cute little zombie looking spider riding on the broom I am off to enter this card into the following challenges:

Santa's Chair Gift Card Holder

We're half way there.  It's the middle of the week and after today it's all a downhill slide to the weekend!  And since it's the middle of the week I thought I'd share a project that is not a card today.  Instead I have a gift card holder to share.

I made this chair using the Silhouette Design ID #89412 - also known as Santa 3d Arm Chair Box.  Even though I'm used to putting together some intricate pieces like those from SVG Cuts this one was a doosie.  But now that I've done one any others should be easier.  And I think that my paper choice wasn't the most compatible with my glue because it took forever for my glue to dry enough to where the pieces would stay together.  So there are a couple of oops on my first attempt.

The tag on the back of the chair actually has a design that can be cut out and adhered to the tag.  As you can see though I opted not to use the design because I wanted to stamp a sentiment on the tag instead.  The sentiment I chose is from the discontinued stamp set Naughty or Nice? by My Craft Spot.  (I was really sad when she had to close up shop last year as she had some great stamp sets.)

And now I'm off to enter my chair into the following challenges:

Hiding in My Craft Room - Use Die Cuts - Ends August 22nd

DL Art - August Linky Challenge - Ends August 31st

Die Cuttin' Divas - Celebrate It - Ends August 24th

Sweet Travels

Today I have a quick and easy card for you.  This one was created using the Road Trip file from Marjorie Ann Designs.  However, there's a small twist.  I wanted to do something just a smidge different so instead of using the suitcase cut ON a card I turned it INTO the card.

I welded the handle on to the main shape and then made a copy of that, flipped it to mirror, butted the shapes together, welded again and there you have it.  A suitcase shaped card.

The stamped sentiment I used on my card is from the recently released stamp set titled Sweet Travels from Jaded Blossom.

Under My Spell

So here we are.  The beginning of a new week.  And today is the start of a new school year for the rest of the kids in our area.  (Several counties started last week)  This year things are different for us because all our children are now out of school and on to college or their careers.  So instead of back to school projects this year I thought I'd fast forward and start on the holiday crafting.  With that being said, I have a Halloween card I'd like to share with you.

For today's card I used the Spooky Squeaks file from Marjorie Ann Designs.  To add a bit of texture to the card I decided to ooze up the green ooze cut from the potion bottle.  After cutting that piece I painted it with some Tulip brand puffy paint and then sprinkled with a bit of Martha Stewart peridot colored glitter.  To dry the paint I used my embossing heat tool.  I waved it around the cut and as the paint would heat to dry it would also bubble up to help add that touch of dimension.

The sentiment I used is from the Cardz TV Stamps set Frankly Frightful.  I also used a couple of the black skittles from the Back to School release from DoubleClick Connections.

And now I'm off to enter this into the following challenges:

Hiding in My Craft Room - Use Die Cuts - Ends August 22nd

Boyscout Stew Recipe Page

As I sit at my desk on this dreary, stormy day I thought this scrapbook recipe page would be a perfect one to share.  This recipe is one that my Grandad used to make on his Boyscout camping expeditions.  He'd put his cast iron pot on the campfire and fill it with all this yummy goodness.  Of course I just throw mine together in the crockpot and let it cook while I'm at work.  And I've modified it a little in that he used to put green beans in his and since I can't stand mushy green beans I leave those out.  Another thing I've done is that I like to use the spicy V8 only for my broth since we like spice.

The cuts I used for this page are:

From My Kitchen for the recipe card

Italian Mice from Marjorie Ann Designs for the mouse in the pot

And now I'm off to enter this into the following challenges:

Hiding in My Craft Room - Let's Scrapbook - Ends August 22nd

Ain't no thing

I have a quick and easy project to share with you today.  I have this stamp set that I purchased months ago from Peachy Keen Stamps called Sunny Side Up.  It has these cute "chicken" related sentiments but I just never found the right cuts to pair the sentiments with.

Until this Cutie KaToodle Rooster from Kadoodle Bug Designs.  I recently used this same rooster on a recipe page so when I cut him out I cut two so I could use him on a card.  It doesn't show up that well in my picture but I used glossy accents on the black part of his eyes to help give them that bit of shine.

But there you have it.  My quick and easy encouragement card.....

Kiss This

Okay so I admit it.  My humor can lean towards the....ummmmm.....shall we say not so PC side sometimes.  And today's project is no exception.  I absolutely LOVE these Poopeez files that SVG Cutting Files has available and I am not ashamed to admit it.

So imagine my excitement when I went to Bed, Bath and Beyond to by a diffuser for my essential oils and there at the check out counter was a display for the Poo-Pourri stuff that I have only seen in You-Tube videos.  Well immediately I knew that I would have to create something................ANYTHING. ................and play with this 'theme'.  After all this was just too perfect to let slip by.

And so it began.  I purchased a couple bottles of Poo-Pourri (after all this has to smell better than the full can of Lysol everyone sprays in the bathroom), found the bottle carrier file at SVG Cutting Files and then went to work on the rest.

For this project I chose to use the Stink Bomb (of course) as the main focal point of my card and then surround him with a couple of the 'flush puppies'

Hey c'mon on.  Admit it.  Even though it is what is is it's pretty daggum cute.  You know you love it.  :)

For the sentiments on my card and the bottle tags I used the Sassy Pants stamp set from Jaded Blossom.

And now I am off to enter my project into the following challenges:

SVG Cutting Files - Anything Goes - Ends August 14th

Jo's Scrap Shack - Anything Goes - Ends August 14th

Pumpkinhead

Last week my husband and I popped into the local ABC Wine and Spirits store and while we were there I saw a couple different varieties of pumpkin beer and thought "hmmmm, interesting".  After my initial interest I began looking at pricing and packaging and as soon as I saw this one I was like "Yep, that's the one.  It's going home with me because I can 'craft' with it."  My husband looked at me a little funny when I told him what I was going to do before I actually tried it.  Of course he just laughed but he knows how I am.

So I have these great files that were free during a Nightmare Before Christmas blog hop last year and I knew there would be something perfect for this beer.  Turns out I was right.  There was this great cut of Jack as the Pumpkin King.  Using that cut, I placed him on one of the Wine Tags - also from SVG Cutting Files.  I then used one of the sentiments from the Jaded Blossom Pick Your Poison stamp set.

And there you have a fun Halloween style wine/beer tag.

Oh, and as for how the beer tastes, it has a pumpkin flavor to it right after you get past all the hops.  It's good but I have to say I'm more of a cider person - love my Angry Orchard and Apple Shock Top.  :)

Greetings from Wonderland

Today I have a quick and easy project to share with you.  I don't make a lot of these EOS holder type projects but I LOVE this door knob from Alice in Wonderland so I had to try my hand at one of these cards.

This particular file was one of the freebies that SVG Cutting Files gave away during the Wonderland blog hop release they co-sponsored with Jaded Blossom a while back.  That means that the file is no longer available.....sorry guys.  But you can find other great Wonderland files here.

My stamped sentiment is from the Wonderland stamp set from Jaded Blossom.

Hello Teacher Calendar Page

It's that time of year again as most everyone prepares to send their children or themselves back to school.  For our family there is none of that this year.  Our youngest son graduated last year and he's taking some time off before he begins college in the Spring.

Nevertheless I thought it would be fun to create a back to school project and play along in some challenges.  Remember a few years back when the CD case calendars were all the rage?  Well I decided to make an August page for one only to discover that I didn't quite have the correct CD case to display it in.  And now I'm on the hunt.  LOL

For my calendar page I used a scrap piece of paper and thought it would be fun to use the chibi pencil in such way that it looked like it was actually writing the letters.  The pencil is from the Chibi Kids as School Icons file from SVG Cutting Files.

The calendar I created in Excel.  The stamped sentiment is from the Hello Hello stamp set from Jaded Blossom.

And now I'm off to enter my calendar page in the following challenges:

Jaded Blossom - Back to School - Ends September 5th

SVG Cutting Files - Anything Goes - Ends August 14th

Jo's Scrap Shack - Anything Goes - Ends August 14th

Breakfast Bowl Scramble

One Sunday morning many years ago I was trying to figure out what to cook for breakfast.  Not having the usual bacon, ham or sausage patties I was frustrated.  But then I remembered that I had these cocktail sausages that I was going to use for a different dish.  Instead I decided that they would be used for breakfast that morning.  I cut every last one of the little things in half, cooked them up and threw them together with whatever else I could find that morning.

And so the breakfast bowl scramble was 'born'.  Even though the kids are all grown they still love it when I cook this up during their visits.  And after being asked for the 'recipe' I decided it would be one that I'd include in every scrapbook cookbook I create.

So now I give you my latest page.  This time I changed out the pig face from Animal Kingdom for the face of Hamm from Toy Story.  The pig silhouette is from the Cricut Cartridge Animal Kingdom and the arrow is from Graphically Speaking.

One of the great things about creating some of these recipe pages is that it has enabled me to whittle down some of my scrap stash.  I'm pretty bad about holding on to every piece of paper regardless of size so I love it when I can finally put those pieces to use.

And now I'm off to enter this recipe page into the following challenges:

Jo's Scrap Shack - Anything Goes - Ends August 14th

DoubleClick Skittles - Food Challenge - Ends August 18th

DL Art - August Linky Challenge - Ends August 31st

We're All Mad Here

Remember those ever so loyal card soldiers from Alice in Wonderland?  You know, the ones running around painting the white roses red because they're afraid the Queen will find out what happened and they'll be beheaded?  Well today I have two cards I'd like to share with you.  One featuring the Heart soldier and one with the Spade.

For these two cards I decided to use the same papers but different sketches so that there would be similarities tying the two together as a pair.  The printed paper is from the SEI mat stack Think of Me.  I love the way that it helps to make my card soldiers pop.  Oh and I also used a scrap piece of paper from my stash that is part of a Disney themed pack for my heart soldier card.

The soldiers are part of the Alice in Wonderland file from Marjorie Ann Designs.  The stamped sentiment on both cards are from Jaded Blossom's stamp set Greetings From Wonderland.  I also used skittles on both cards, and they are from DoubleClick Connections.

And now I think I'll run off and enter these cards into the following challenges:

DL Art - August Linky Challenge - Ends August 31st

PDE Linky Party - Anything Goes - Ends August 6th

Jo's Scrap Shack - Anything Goes - Ends August 7th

Floating Ghost Card

Today I bring you yet another cute, fun Halloween card.  This little cutie is another of the little ghosties from the Boo Halloween file from Marjorie Ann Designs.

Last week Jen Collins shared a card she created in one of my Facebook groups featuring a ghost on the spinner card.  This made me think about how I haven't made a spinner card in forever so I had to sit down and play.

For the base of the card I used one of the penny slide card bases from SVG Cutting Files.  The great thing about this file set is that it comes with five different variations - all of which look like fun.

And here's my ghost as he was spinning.....

The stamped sentiment on my card is from the Cardz TV Stamps titled Trick or Treat.

Mad Hatter Layer Card

Today I'm sharing one of the layer style cards I created using the Mad Hatter A2 Card Layers file from SVG Cutting Files.

This was a fairly straight forward and easy card to assemble.  My only issue was cutting the 10/6 in the sign that goes on the hat.  Even with a new mat it wouldn't cut that piece of the file cleanly so I finally said forget it and used my white gel pen to fill in the 'holes'.

At first I thought about trying to stamp a sentiment on the front of the card but decided against it since I didn't want to detract from the overall look.

Blah Blah Blah

Have you ever had one of those days where it just felt like everything went wrong?  Well I had a moment of that while creating the card I'm sharing with you today.  I had everything all put together, just stamped the sentiment on the outside of the card, and opened the card to stamp the inside sentiment when Bam!  It happened.  I had opened my card right onto my ink pad, causing this to happen.....

I was so upset that I had to just walk away for a bit.  But then I came back, peeled away the messed up layers very carefully and reconstructed my character.  Now my card is good as new and you'd never know what happened.

For this card I used the Alice in Wonderland file from Marjorie Ann Designs and the Sassy Pants stamp set from Jaded Blossom.  After all Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum were to crazy, sassy characters.

And now I'm off to enter my card into the following challenge:

Unbirthday Treat Set

Today I'd like to share a fun unbirthday treat set I created.  With the recently released Wonderland stamp sets from Jaded Blossom and the Alice in Wonderland files from Marjorie Ann Designs this was a perfect pairing.

To create the coffee treat holder I used these cute little 4oz coffee cups and matching lids that I purchased here.  The templates for the cup wrappers can be printed  from here.

To cover the lid I cut 2" circles using the Cricut cartridge George, but obviously anything that cuts a 2" circle will work.

For the carrier use a sturdy piece of 12" x 12" paper.
  • Cut one piece 4" x 6 3/4"  Score all 4 sides at 1"
  • Cut along two opposite sides of the score lines up to where they intersect and then snip the corners diagonally.
  • Now assemble the box.
  • To add more stability cut a piece of chipboard 2" x 4 1/2" and set aside
To create the handle, using that same 12" x 12" paper:
  • Cut a 1 7/8" x 11" piece.  Score at 1 1/2", 5 1/2" and 9 1/2"
  • Fold in half and glue together down to the score lines for the 'flaps'
  • Use an oval or circle punch to make a hole for carrying
  • Set aside
Use remaining paper to cover the piece of chipboard you cut.  Glue the chipboard to the bottom of the box.  Then glue the handle to the piece of chipboard.

For the potion bottle tag, I used a scalloped circle frame from the Cricut Cartridge Wild Card.  I hide the interior circle contour and then cut the size needed to fig the potion.  The potion bottle, cupcake and the two print n cut images on the top of the cups are all from the Alice in Wonderland file from Marjorie Ann Designs.

My card was made using the same cut file.  To add a bit of shimmer to the card I cut the crown from a gold metallic paper.  I also decided to use some glossy accents on the whites of the eyes and the heart on the lips.

And now I'm off to enter this project into the following challenges:

Jaded Blossom Crafter's Choice challenge - Ends August 1st
